Closet CFL grow...

newbie here, good job so far, this is my first grow. i have one question, where did you find the cfl sockets to hold those higher wattage bulbs?
 
any regular socket will do, most of them are rated for quite a high number of watts. It should say on the socket somewhere. The bulb just has to have a medium base, which is the size of regular household sockets that take incandescent bulbs.
 
yep...what the beav said. your common household sockets are medium base. the ones i got from home depot rated at @600 watts.

nothing much new to report....my 4 newly adopted kids have all woke up and started their light baths. still no sign from the royal flush pair....prob gonna trash em.

thanks for the info, just ordered me some 250 watt cfl. Can't wait till next year, they are coming out with the 300 watt cfl. Also, purchased me a red and blue light led spectrum light setup to add to the cfl.
 
things are progressing nicely...all 4 kids are now starting 2nd set of new leaves with the NL moving just abit quicker.

NL is a nice quick finishing good producer. The other plants you have will produce more potent smoke though. Good start so far, good luck with your grow man.

appreciate it...trying out the buds for less method...figure it cant hurt. i got the NL cause i heard it was rather easy to grow and i dont want to get too exotic too early, but im really interested in the jock horror...
 
Yep, I am listening Killer Redd. I am growing in a bubbleponics setup. Thank goodness my bulb didn't break on the system. I cleaned up everything with gloves and mask. 2 of my 3 White Russian seedlings poked their little heads out yesterday and #3 looks like it's about to make it's way out of the rockwool. I am very excited. Thanks for your input once again. Peace.
 
I'd stay away from Miracle grow soil, buy some Fox farms ocean forest and you'll thank the board in general later. If you upgrade your light go with the highest wattage your heat situation can handle. I grew some LA woman last year that was better than anything i've burned in 35 years. The above are from black thumb failures I had over the last two years when I was in your shoes.
Beware, you may get addicted to the fun of providing for yourself. Good luck.

yea ive read the horror stories @ mg but i had some(alot) on hand and i probably wont use nutes, but i have some real weak nutes(10-10-10) if need be. being my first grow im really trying to do this right..ie. notes, ph'd h2o, good vents, etc. my goal is for a somewhat perpetual grow room, but i still cant go too overboard with it atm. i imagine ill end up using some organic soil w/ nutes in the end. i like what ive been reading @ jacks classic nutes and molasses, seem to be easy and cheap. as i am a looooong time smoker(25yrs) and noobie grower i dont plan on buying weed again...minus cost.
and im already hooked!

sorry, been on the grow journal. here are some updated pics. its now day 12 and looking SWEET. the 2 northern lights are beasts and one jock is too. the other jock, i call it stunt jock, is way behind. im gonna swith to 12/12 at the end of the week so i put it under my strongest bulb. im hoping the bigger ones will give me some clones, especially the jock. how stressful is it on a plant to clone after ive started flowering. i dont want to turn em hermie, but ive got plenty of time to allow for rooting and revegging if i take cuttings later. any suggestions? peace.....
