hi. i want to know if buds can stop growing or stop growing depending upon the pot size in which they are.

i mean =
if pots are too small, buds do not come out big
stem and branches are very thin , bud very small
roots stop growing , resulting in buds stop growing.

does these above apply??

Hi,

There is no exact direct measurable corrilation between pot size and bud size. But, that being said. . . you will see generally more bud from a bigger pot, and that would be because; bigger pot, equals more roots, usually more roots growth, more root O1, O2 & CO2. That also being said now, I would stage, this is how I have found best results.

Staging meaning, I grow first my seedlings or cuttings in a small cup around 16 ounces in total volume. Once the plant starts to root up( become full completely of roots just pre root bound), I put them in one gallon pots. Then I repeat the process throughout the cycle of the plant. From one gallon to 2.5 gallon, and from 2.5 to 5 gallon.

In rare indoor cases, and in most outdoor cases you can some times skip from the 2.5 directly to a 10 or 20 plus gallon pot, but remember, once you go over 5 gallons of soil, you will want some sort of soil ammendments no matter what soil you are using. That is to say, rock, sand, perilite, clay pebbles, Canadian Pete Moss, etc. . . on the bottom 1/3 of the pot, and at least 1 to to inches on the top as well.

I would have to disagree just a touch about the canopy thing though.
I have successfully grown 6 foot tall 2 and three foot wide plants, completely from begining to end in the same 1 gallon pots, in one case with only CPM as a soil/grow media. It isn't the normal way to go, but I was testing, as I do, any and all grow systems, and ideas as I get a chance.

I tried growing from start to finish multiple and same strain grows, in just about every size pot from begining to end. Ultimately, I found the T.G.D. Staging method to be the best. Let the plants root up, auto trim their own roots in the correct kind of growing pots, then put them in the next size up pot. Small to medium, medium to big. You will see your buds explode!!!!

I did my first transplant today, I went from a 1/2 gallon pot to three gallon and I was surprised by how much root mass there was. I would say dont underestimate how fast roots grow. The way I look at it, pot plants in nature would not be limited by some silly plastic barrier so, it is impossible to give them too much room. You would just need more water respectively.

It is, but also isn't fair to say what would happen in nature. . . you figure, in nature the sun would also give all or at least most spectrems of lights in a correct balance to the plants. They would also have the correct co2 and air movment. . . lol
We are responsable for all functions and parts of the plants grow life. . . once we either add something to it, or take something from it. Or for that matter, once we grow it indoors rather from a seed or clone. So we are the nature now. We make the light, air, food and water for our girls! So, why now limit, or not limit as you feel. You are your plants demi god. You clip them, that doesn't happen in nature. You add co2, that doesnt' really happen in nature. You make light with very specific spectrum and timing. You give them very specific, and sometimes very agressive foods and additives and microbes and sugars, most of which even if available in nature, the plants would never see.
So. . .. . . . . have fun, and do whatever works. . .

Remember, if it works for you, you did it right! Because even though it is scientific, it isn't science.

If you use microbe additives like sub culture b & m, great white etc. . . you will see healthier quicker root growth. But remember, some times quicker root growth can be bad, you don't want them getting too far ahead of your vegatative growth, or starting 'the twist' and doing barrell turns in the pot. Once they get to the almost root bound point, you have too change up, unless if you have a auto trimming pot!

Heck yes! I just wish we could have equipment that permeates as thoroughly as mother nature does.
