Modern Science In An Ancient Book

As early as 1500 B.C. it was recorded that the sun is not the only source of light (Gen. 1:3, 14-16; Psa. 74:16), the earth was originally one large land mass (Gen. 1:9; 10:25; Deut. 32:8), and the stars cannot be counted by man (Gen. 15:5; 22:17; Jer. 33:22).
Sorry im stoned:weed:

a. Look at the sky at night, you can see stars and the Moon. Of course the Sun isn't the only source of light...

b. My guess is this was simply a good guess, and they weren't talking about Pangea, just that because they thought the world was flat, it would seem obvious that it'd all be one piece. (quote the verse you're talking about specifically)

c. the stars can be counted by man + computers ;)

The stars can never be accurately counted. Only educated guesses can be made. We learn new information all the time that shatters what we thought we knew. The universe is ever expanding that is proven (or at least distance between objects in space). Also new stars form every day, and die every day. We will not have a accurate measure of that.

Man use to think oxygen and h20 were key ingredients to life. How ever now they know that is not the case with the Archae Bacteria that makes its home in lava yes volcano lava(and a few other crazy places) and has been found living under the earths crust as deep as 6.5 km under.

want modern science in an ancient book. look up the books of Ezekiel NOT published in the bible. you will find one that discuses his experiences with the *lords* who took him through the heavens and taught him to write to record his experiences.
Thats Some modern stuff in that ancient book.

Not quite. Every form of life as we know it requires water. Oxygen has never been considered a prerequisite for life. Plants don't respire oxygen, they excrete it as a waste product. The interesting thing about archea spp. is that they don't rely on solar energy. We had always thought that it was the sun that powered all life on this planet. The ability to use hydrothermal vents made it much more probable that life on distant planets or their moons could harbor life even without the solar radiation. Chemosynthesis instead of photosynthesis.

What will be interesting is if we can find a shadow biosphere. Organisms that don't have chemistry unique to the rest of life on Earth. Imagine if we could find microbes that didn't utilize DNA or uses different base pairs, or use silicon as its structural base rather than carbon?

And just to be smart ass: EVERYTHING that has EVER touched dihydrogen monoxide has DIED.
100% mortality rate people!
It MUST be erradicated from the planet if we are to survive!!!!

can't count the stars when you aren't exactly sure how many galaxies there are.
ever see the hubble deep field images?

you know at first thought, this sounds like a crazy ass idea; funny thing is I have believed this for some time now. but yeah, is it really that far fetched, i mean taking into consideration the size of the universe and the odds that we're the only intelligent life in it, and the ancient records of giant human like 'gods' that came from lights in the sky. and not to mention the mayans who worshiped what seems to be depections of extraterrestrial beings. also how can anyone who believes in evolution be content with the major and glaring gap between modern humans and early hominids.

I could be wrong but wasn't there a couple of supercontinents before Pangea and after?
Does the Bible say the earth was flat?

Please elaborate on this gap.

Just because life on Earth evolved to need water, oxygen, co2, etc. doesn't mean life on another planet needs these things to survive.
