First time grower, have some questions.

Hello all :)

I decided to take a shot at growing for the first time this year and I dont think its going so well. I got some seeds from a buddy (not sure what kind they are, but they came from a bag of danky buds) and they havent seemed to be growing so great. I made a mistake when I planted them. I had top soil on the bottom on the pots and some MG outdoor soil on top. I know, stupid stupid stupid. Totally wasnt thinking when I planted them. I originally planted them outside (they were about 2 inches tall) about mid May. ! week ago today I realized that I used the wrong soil and repotted them with MG Organic soil. They seem to be waking up now, but is there anything I can do to get them to shoot up a little?

The only reason I used the MG Organic is because its pretty much all they had at the local garden shop. So being Organic isnt really a big thing for me. I attached a pic for you guys. The stems are really sturdy. Thoughts?

Don't expect too much out of them. You have too many in that pot. You really only want 1 per pot

Agreed If you can put them in individual large pots. If its to late just learn from your mistakes thats what everyone does. Have you used any organic nutes yet on them? How much sunlight do they get every day??

It's already too late at this point. They put out roots quickly, they're probably tangled. Trying to separate them will probably cause root damage and cause it to turn hermie if it they don't die.

You really should separate-- just be gentle and take your time. If you don't they'll become root bound and stunt their growth, or even die fighting for space. Typically even if you tear a couple of the smaller roots they'll still bounce back-- just look out for the root ball. Expect some shock time, where they'll be recovering and not grow much. But the longer you wait the less of a chance they'll have.

Oh, and I'm using organic MG in some of my plants, as I ran out of my own recipe, and they're doing just fine-- I just posted some pics of them today if you wanna check them out. Good luck with your grow. Cheers.

Thanks for the replys!

I know I should have them in their own pots, but I just didn't have any spares at the time. And like I said, this is my first time and its a learning experience. I did have one left over recently (had a tomato plant die on me) so I just put one in that pot and left the 2 in the other. I didn't even touch roots when I took the one out, so I think it should be good.

I'm not sure what organic nutes are? Can I get them at say Home Depot? I assume its a fertilizer of some sort? Any other tips/suggestions to make these healthier would be greatly appreciated!

I think I am going to get some plant food today and try that. Anybody have any objections to that?

Do you have any hydro stores in your area??? I use the botanicare line myself it works great I have had no complaints.
I'm sure I do. I just went to HD and got some MG all purpose plant food and used that. I'll update this thread with pictures in a few days to let you guys know how things are going. I'm sure ill have more questions by then. :)

Just thought I would give a little update. The plants seem to be doing much better now. They have each grown about 1/2" - 1" since the 18th. They were almost a yellowish/green before, now they all seem to be turning much greener. I have attached some pictures. The sizes are 6", 5" and 4 1/2" lol. I know there kind of lame compared to some of the other grows around here, but im doing my best :)

I used some MG all purpose food on them 2 days ago and I think thats what gave them the boost. I plan to get some Fox Farm food Friday and start them on that. Tell me what you guys think? They should double in size I would think from here on out? I might get a few joints out of them!

to be honest.. i think you would be better off pulling one and just go with one plant per pot... in my opinion.
I was thinking about doing that but the two are pretty close and I don't want to do root damage. I suppose I could just cut it but man I hate to do that :/

Organic nutes include fish or kelp emulsion, various types of guano, composted soil, manure, etc. Basically it's fertilizers the natural way. Home depot sells Alaska fish emulsion, and I think a few others but not much else. I use that on my plants and gardens-- they love it. Just be careful not to burn your plants with nutes as they're still young. Good luck bud, cheers.
