My very first plant ever.

I decided to let the 'N' defeciency run it's course and not add any chemical nutes, I fimmed 3 more locations so it gets bushier. I've started the sculpting process but I don't know if i'm going to continue it. (too much work)

The fishtank water has 4 goldfish and 2 turtles so I decided against the water from there.

No one got back to me on the red/blue/daylight bulb lighting so I removed the incandecent daylight bulb and i'll just use the cfl's I have now.

Sorry for not getting back to you. Its been pretty hectic lately for myself. I can say that she is looking great. Nice job on the walls brotha! Potty has a serious chance of making it to harvest now :) When you switch to flowering you are going to want Warm White CFL's at 2700k spectrum. For vegging, you are using 6500k cfls correct? When you do make the switch I recommend a 2:1 ratio of cfls. So for every watt of 2700k lighting, add one watt of 6500k. So if you are using 6500k for vegging right now, I would hold onto those. You can mingle those into the grow when you make the switch.

I would recommend at least 100 watts of 2700k for Potty. You can get the 42watters at any supermarket usually for like 8-9 bucks a pop. I would try to get three of them 42 watt 2700k cfls and you will be golden brotha! Keep me posted! Your doing great!

PS...She looks the healthiest I have ever seen her and you certianly dont have any Nitrogen Def. at this point :)

Yes. Any bulb <3000k is in the white/ red spectrum and ideal for flowowering, while bulbs 5000k-7000k are more in the blue spectrum wich is ideal for vegetative growth(root, stem, and leaf growth). You should provide a combination of both ends of the spectrum at a 3:1(2:1 fine too) ratio, with the majority 6500k bulbs"coolwhite/daylight" and the majority 2700k bulbs"warm white"

Sry... You should also avoid getting a few large watt CFLs(42,64, etc) but instead more smaller watt bulbs(23/26w). Because the lumen to watt ratio is more beneficial
VERY TRUE! Thanks for the clarification. I am highly blazed at the moment, and didnt think that one out all the way. This BONG is for YOU!

Well I won't be getting anymore bulbs at all, it's not in the budget. Fuck, a cup of coffee isn't in the budget so i'm going to make due with what I have.

I have a red incandecent for reptiles, will that help? 150w.

Sadly, it wont. It will possibly harm the plant. In order to flower out you are going to have to get some 2700k watt bulbs before you switch her to flowering. Otherwise, she will go south quickly when you do make the switch. If you are living with you parents, possibly try smashing a couple bulbs to provoke them to go out and get more. And, when they do...make sure your with them mate :)

33 with parents? Do I sound like that much of a loser?

I'm a starving student, didn't find work this summer and i'm living on less than nothing

LMAO, well I apologize. I certianly didnt get the impression you were young, but most people who are working on a shoestring budget tend to me younger...So My assumptions have certianly made me an ass....Nice description of your bulbs....but its not anything I can use to determine what spectrum they are

@straitkilla

I can easily control the temperature with an extra fan I have blowing the heat away from the plant towards the exhaust. Do you know what spectrum it is and if I could use it for my plant (keeping in mind temperature wouldn't be an issue)

I just got some horrible news....and it kind of makes me feel like i'm in a soap opera......

Stay tuned to find out if Potty McPlanterson may actually be Hempy McHemprson!

I heard a description of where i found my seeds and it turns out there was a bunch of hemp stolen and stashed that was really seedy and didn't get you high so i might actually be growing a hemp plant....

Fuck....

You don't want to use an incandescent lamp at all. They are horribly inefficient and emit more heat (infrared spectrum) than photosynthetically active light for the plant. Plants respond to this by stretching out between nodes and getting long and lanky. I'll guess that your "orangey" CFLs are 2700K soft whites and your "bluey" one is a 6500K daylight bulb. Shop around different hardware stores, CFLs aren't really that expensive and because they draw such low wattage you can run multiples off the same light fixture using cheap Y-splitters. A 4 pack of 2700Ks cost me $4-7 and 6500Ks run $10-12 (23w/100w equiv).

Yes although those reptile bulbs do produce a larger amount of UVB rays. It creats up to 12xs more UVA rays wich is very harmful to your plants health. Like said above CFLs not very expensive at all. I think walmart currently has a special of 6 2700k CFLs for $6.47

s'ok

today marks Potty's 60th day alive so I switched her (crosses fingers) to 12/12

I have roughly 30 days before this cycle ends and I start a new one

My next project will be using a rubbermaid stealth grow since I have the lights, containers and all sorts of other whatnots

I really hope Potty turns out to be weed and not hemp and it it does trn out to be hemp then I'm tossing the seeds and gonna hope for a bag seed from one of the dimes I buy.
