No, they won't stop growing up. the point of supercropping is that you cut down the height of the plant by bending it. tie it in a knot if you like.

yeah, that's what i said. I do a little supercropping myself from time to time, done loop the loops like this one:

But when he posted the knot that was just the coolest thing ever.

yes and as you can see it controls the height by cutting down the height of the plant. the plant will always grow straight up unless you train it not to.

yah, supercropping does help control the height.. when you bend it over, the point where you pinch it at is going to be about a foot or so lower than where the top of the plant used to be at.. after you supercrop though, sometimes the plant will want to straighten back up unless you keep rebending it down again and again.. some strains are harder to keep supercropped than others.. the only realy way to find out how a plant will respond to supercropping is to try it out.. i personally love it and the effect that it has on my garden.. it keeps the canopy nice and even, and it can have the same effect as topping a plant.. it wll make the lower branches grow into much bigger main branches so that you don't just one main cola any longer..

usually the grand daddy purple that I grow stays short but this new strain I got is supposed to be grand daddy but its like a foot taller but at least the fan leaves are huge like the purp.

Here's another example from another friend of mine on a different forum with the handle Burnee:

As you can see it removes several inches of height from the plant. Which is often the difference one needs to make the plant fit. as the lights are above it is better to have the plant growing straight up, as straight as you can while still removing height from the plant. you can bend the top if you like but it makes the buds messy and you lose out on the cola.

yeah this strain is growing right back up to the light after 2 hours of supercroping.

"Supercropping is stressful to plants and will slow growth. I do not advise doing this once flowering has begun. You plants will be better off without the shock."

does this statement have truth to it

i've done it, and i think any stress caused by supercropping is short lived.. i was on another site and told them that i was 3 weeks into flowering on my sour cream plant and was running out of room, and was told by a grower that i kinda looked up to called london grower to just go ahead and supercrop her, and that it wouldn't stress the plant out that much.. i didn't notice much stress on the plant, and if seemed to be back to its normal growth pattern in around a day or so.
i'm far from an expert, but i really am into supercropping, lol..
