just changed the whole closet up..and found a fuck up i had made.first...the intake fan was plugged in backwards...so i really had 2 outtake fans..so no cool air was going in.and the fan itself was so cramped into the box next to it...no air was getting thru anyway.moved the box closer to the door all the way off the back of the wall.hell after flipping the plug around it went from 99.7 to 92.9.plus now it has nothing next to it so plenty of clean air flow...before it was just circulating stale air from in the box,to out the box,to back into the box.took care of that and with the big fan on it it should be much better by morning.and as for my light setup...very simple...4 cfl's 600 watts total.2 sockets with 2 y adapters and got a fan under them next to the intake fan blowing right on them..got some pics of my setup in my grow journal..dont want to take up more space on your thread than i already have..its not the lights giving me so much heat...it was a string of dipshit moves on my part

I never really understood the whole low temp indoor thing. For the past month, It's been in the high 80's and some days up to the mid 90's outside and my outdoor plants didn't seem to mind except they were sucking up the water like it was going out of style. Granted, they are going on 3 months old and pushing 6' tall, so they aren't exactly seedlings. Even wild cannabis, especially sativas, grow in areas much hotter than that. Is it a strain thing? Are indoor varieties that much more sensitive to heat? Not saying crank it up to 90 degrees, but I would think mid 80's would be ok. Maybe you indoor guys could shed some light on the subject for me. Do they just simply grow better when the temp is in the high 70's to lower 80's? I've always read that but never really experienced it myself.

BTW this is an awesome thread guys! Lots of good growing going on here. Thanks for letting us semi-hijack your thread smelly, haha. I'm actually a little jealous, wish I had this much action going on in my journal, lol.

yeah some strains cant handle heat.after years of screwing with the genetics of a wild species it gains an element of needing a controlled environment.and when they are outdoors they are getting MUCH more airflow thru the plants.in a grow box the heat is more concentrated on the the plant.the soil gets really hot..it being black..takes in more light/heat.heat on the roots isnt a good thing.outside they dont get the heat being planted in the ground the soil 1-2 feet down is much cooler so it can handle it.its best to keep the temps between 75-80 during veg

i got a question for you guys...this diesel ryder after 2 days of flowering is starting to get skunky...whats a good way to get rid of the smells during flowering?i was going to build a carbon filter for it or get a scrubber but thats proving to be a bitch to find all the stuff i need..then the issue of getting it hooked onto my outtake fan.so other then a carbon filter whats a good way to cover up the flowering smells...dont ask me how but i can smell my 2 inch plant from 20 feet away..after 2 days of flowering..so this mofo is gonna get skunky fast..seeing as my clothes are in there and id prefer to not broadcast to the neighbors what im doing..and trust me..where im living...the homies here will KNOW whats up...thats all i need is the cops showing up cuase i just unloaded my 45 into some dumbass trying to steal my shit

I've heard the ONa gel works really good for the odor, I think thats what it was called.. I would do both if thats your main concern, carbon filter and the ona gel..

I put together a mother cab just to get an idea of how its going to work I used a cardboard box to start and it actually turned out a lot better than I expected and temps are staying way cooler than in my other cab so far... 79 ambient and 80 in the cab with only, ONE 120mm exhaust cpu fan and same size passive intake hole. Exhaust at the top right and the intake at the bottom left!! I was planning on having 2 exhaust but this seems to be working great so far.

Here a few pics to give you guys an idea. Anyway the point of this is to switch these damn short riders to 12/12 now! Took 2 hrs of light off the schedule so 18/6 tonight, 16/8 tomorrow etc.. So by sunday they will be on 12/12 and hopefully on there way to showing there hairs!!

ive heard the same about the ona gel..and they make blocks too.i wanted to do a carbon filter....but not one place around here sells carbon in a tub..checked all the pet stores, lowes and walhell...and the price of shipping is ungodly.guess im gonna go with the ona gel and blocks...and i found these one things called california scents.its a small can of air freshner...but they are really strong..cover up smells pretty good if you cut the can open and take the llittle block out of the packaging.this might work for normal plants but not the diesel ryders...they are like a green bay packer fan fart stink...cant get rid of that stink

I'd like to know how that ONA stuff works on your stinky little girls if you end up getting it!! The short rider havent started smelling yet but if they do, maybe that air freshner thing will work for me.. Thanks for the idea!

Yea I'm very happy with it so far, I'm tired of waiting!! I'm switching those bitches to 12/12 tonight!

Edit.
Set both timers, 7week Shorts are now on 12/12 and the babies went back to 20/4 same exact schedule they where on!

look man, first of all it is not my first grow, secondly i posted that info cause if you look closely it states that once i moved that supposedly auto-flower strain outside it started to auto-flower with no problem. it is not bad info, it is just what happened in my experience. it might of been a bogus strain, i don't know i don't care all i can tell you is that the end product was super dank. if a supposedly auto-flower strain does not auto-flower indoors, take a clone planted outside and see what happens. try it out, if i'm lying or if my information is bad information let me know.....

see what i mean about bad info slipping through based on a single grow...my 2 week old plant thats grown indoors on a 20/4 cycle has sexed and is rapidly flowering...so your it only flowers in 12/12 is bogus...they wouldnt call it autoflowering if it didnt autoflower...the purpose of the strain.as it comes to those that dont autoflower..can be just that seed..or the growing environment.

yeah, most strains with sativa genetics would be more resistant to heat, i've got some white widow x white lights (white lights) and my temps are intentionally between 88-92 degrees, and they seem to love it. all my leaves are nice and green. they start to produce nice hairy nugs at week 2. if you see the temps in this picture you can see that its at 89 and the plants love it.

didnt say it was your first grow man...but you stated that its a fact that you must put autoflowers on 12/12 to make them flower...
they will not flower unless you switch to 12/12, doesn't matter if it's an auto-flower strain or not. the only way it'll auto-flower is if it's grown outside, not indoors
which isnt true...that was what i was pointing out.i would hate for a first time growing to be reading things on here and see that...then fuck up their plant.ive seen a lot of people put things in these threads thats made me cringe....and if i came across like an asshole thats my bad i apologize...ive been without herb for about 5 days now...fucking lazy dealers suck

Thanks CD!

Yea I highly doubt I'll grow this strain again unless I get free seeds from pollinating. However it did take some abuse, specially the outdoor plants so Nirvana was somewhat accurate with stating this strain is pretty easy to grow. Even though I have nothing to compare them to, I will :)

Yea cardboard is the shit! I'm hoping to not get it wet lol, its off the ground and I water by hand so there shouldn't be a problem with that.

first grow, single grow, same thing. i stated earlier in the post that i might have been wrong about the auto-flowring thing dude, ok my bad, and just so you know my intention is not to fuck up a first timer's plants, i would hate that too if it was to happen. no worries dude, and no need for apologies. happy smoking....
