Aussie Growers Thread

Got my beans from Gyspy Nirvana In 3 days 10 regular Bubbleicious and 5 free regular Skunk X haze seeds no more trying to grow dodgy bagseed that keeps hermying.
 
Brissy mate I read some good and bad reviews and I got lucky I guess.

Don't work for gypsy I work for F#$%ing woolies.

Another fellow Aussie here

I just ordered seed from Seedman, been looking around and cannot find, should I dare say it, big names that still send to Australia. Bloody customs =P

Hopefully my grow box will be completed by the time the seeds come. Just need to wire everything up

What do you mean the parcel came but customs nicked em?

Heard some crazy stealth stories so go over the parcel with a fine tooth comb they even slot them in between ruffled cardboard ingenious really mine was just 2 breeder packs in an envelope inside another envelope.
 
AH my bad, nah other companies such as nivana and attitude do not send to Australia because parcels wouldn't be allowed through so I've been reading.

Should have mad myself more clear. =P

Haha normally I would think 2 years? It's not that long ago but then I just looked at the members list with posts 10k+ and only a few of them have joined before me.

Well my story goes something like this. I had my first small grow a few years back, a couple of weeks after my first thread. The grow went great and enjoyed some good weed.

Then the house I was renting with uni friends got sold so I moved back in with my parents so I could save up while I finish my studies. Would have loved to grow but parents wouldn't have approved. Didn't have to pay rent so why complain?


Now a couple of months ago I moved back out and now planning to grow. I thought I'd contribute seeing as last time, all I did was lurk around. Not many reasons to start new threads, you just search for your question in google and about 5 other people would have asked the same question in some shape or form.

Everyone on this forum are actually nice. Compared to many other forums I belong to. =]

Kind of Ironic that if you have a low post count your treated with a lower regard on the internet yet were to post all my questions and not just use the forum search option and Google I would have probably close to 1000 posts already in the short time I lurked and shorter time I've been a member.

That being said here and Stinkbuddies do seem to be some of the friendlier forums I've been apart of.

Furthermore I won $50 on the Pokies (it's not an addiction I have a system :) ) so I'm going to buy some Autoflowers I've seen great results with the AK48 strain so maybe that or Diesel Ryder.

Incidentally can they hermie easily I'd like to do a windowsill grow with one for shits and giggles, and being a power saver nazi I turn my light off everytime I leave my room.

Haha tell me about it, If I put up everything single question I had I would have 10k+. You just need to back yourself and believe you're doing things right which is kind of what I've noticed around here. Everyone looks for clarification and hopes they are doing it correctly. There is no one way to grow and you need to find out what works for you.

Congrats on the win ! Never play pokies, it's normally a rarity. Just make sure you remember your losses as well as your wins ;) haha

I'm not familar with that strain but I believe if you keep walking in and out of the room turning the light on and off, you'll create stresses on the plant which will lead it to hermie.

When my plants grow (feminised) I'm hoping they'll hermie so I can obtain a few more seeds so I do not have to wait around to import more in case something goes wrong.

Yep back and now legal :) I can grow 72 plants legally ! :dose little dance:

Yep living the dream alright ! Opening a horticulture school: - The Hemp and Cannabis Learning Center.

And about to build out a commercial hydroponic/ aquaponics facility - for food crops. (which will included a special corner :) )

hahaha hermis are no good man. I asked the same question a few pages back thinking hermi seeds would be good to have for the same reason. Concensus was don't waste your time as hermi seeds = hermi plants (unless i got my facts wrong).
 
Haha yeah that's what I've read. Although it does beat not having seeds. :)

Hermies aren't good if you're running a business because they are included in the weight and you get ripped off but personal use I don't see it being that bad. Just my opinion, if people don't agree then that's fine :) I'll cope it.

From what I read Not necessarily, Hermie seeds will only Hermie if put under the same stress that put there mum Hermie, I got some Hermie seeds from some plants that were light stressed, heat stressed and bug stressed and got to dry way to many times I've grown them out and they are all female and being a winter crop most of the stresses (40 degree days and black pots don't mix) won't occur again hopefully.

Here hoping I'm right,

@nimbus I am up ~2500 in 16 months I limit myself to $20 a week meaning I can't lose big but I can win big ~1300 in jackpots is a lot of $20 weeks. Last night being the perfect example walk in hit free games won $50 and walked out after only putting $8 through, eliminate temptation it's how pokies work they give back 85-95% on the presumption you'll keep playing, if you leave when your up you've broken the system they rely on the addiction, and thats how I make my money not a lot of it but I enjoy playing the pokies enough to make it worthwhile.
 
That's a damn good system :P I don't have the money to play pokies =[

I've seen too many people at the local club put in hundreds of dollars and walk out with nothing. Feel a little sorry for them

first time grower here based in vic I have a couple of health probs and decided to try growing just 1 plant.
First of i would like to mention im on a very limited budget but this is what I have so far
I have built a cupboard with interior measurements of :
1670mm high
1325mm long
910mm deep
I have been given some silver batt 450 insulation I was wondering if I could use this as the reflective surface or should I line the walls with this and then hang panda film over the top?
The unit is not in a house its in an exterior building this is why I would like to use the silver batts
cupboard cost me $25 to make had alot of the stuff just lying round


Here is a list of everything I have to go in the room so far

water pump 1200l/hr

60cm flexible air stone
computer fan (air in)
420mm pot
52 litre reservoir (probly a bit big but was cheap lol)
plumbing
bag of cyco coco peat
cyco a+b veg and flower
400w jb ballast hps
powerplant hps 400w
cooltube with interior dimple shade
computer fan and duct for cooltube
got all this from discount hydroponics on ebay great prices $430 for all the above delivered
powerplant mh superveg 400w retro fit globe (given to me only used for 3 weeks)
mountain air carbon filter 300mm x 1000mm (given to me had 3 months use)
Allvent uf-310 250mm centrifugal fan (friend is thinking of giving me this)


I was palning on doing a recycling flood and drain set up
using superthrive during the veg stage but was told not to use in flower stage


I have some bag seed but not sure how old they are but they have been kept cool and in an air/light proof container was thinking of maybe trying to get some medical strain seeds but im a bit weary bout who to buy from, customs etc...


what do you guys think any opinions/comments would be greatly appreciated
