I would have to suggest a large carbon filter with squirl cage usually comes pre built from the grow shop im going to buy the most expensive and largest one for my two producers. 500 bux

Its shelf life is about 18months. Which would be about 30 buxs a month. and after that about 2-3 hundred to replace carbon filter. It act as both a dehumidifier and a scent remover. My friend has exact same model and we can literally smoke joints right beside it with out any smell what so ever leaving the room, there also will be no smell within minutes.

The ones that come with producer are good but are to expensive to replace and do nothing to reduce smell when trimming or opening the doors.
wow 500 big ones every 18 months thats pricy but not quite sure how this works can you add a link please ill gooogle this
can you point out the model your friend has and how he uses it thanks

Day 20 Flowering

A couple days ago I introduced co2 and now the plants are growing now at an average rate of 1" per day. I cut the bottom 4-6 branches off each of the bigger plants to free up some space and will reevaluate if I should cut more in a couple days. With my carbon filter on I am averaging about 68% humidity right now, and about 10% less with the filter off. I think if I added an inline fan and bigger filter I would be able to keep my humidity in the 50's.

Looking good man those some healthy looking plants!!! Are you still using the ice bottles in rez for temp control? I added my extra air pump today macgyvered a hole through one of the fan cover slots. After harvest will make it better it is just stuck down through a pot opening. Do you think a chiller or a nutradip system should be the next addition?

I am on day 8 of flower technically but i had to drain fresh res and go into root save mode of h2o2 baths to stave off root rot. I think I have it contained as best as it will get. During the battle I had to leave lid open for a while with rez empty as I cleaned disinfected and a few of my ladies are looking listless. Extra airstones pumping lots of air.

You might be confusing me with someone else. I'm not using ice bottles.

i use 2 frozen 20 oz bottles at a time and change em 2 or 3 times a day and about ten trays of ice per day to keep temp btwn 62 and 72. one-litres r best but mine exploded in freezer! 2-litres r overkill and rupture easily when frozen. if i used nothing rez would b 75 to 80. extra airstones and fan r requirements for producer imo.[/QUOTE

My bad Ancap thought it was you, I mustve been high last night lol.

I have not yet solved this problem, but I really haven't given it much thought yet either. If anyone has any suggestions for a product that eliminates the smell but allows airflow, please send me links. I'm also going to be shopping for a small fan or two to mount inside the box.
hey ancap nice ladies i have a suggestion to this smell issue and wanted to know what you and others tought about this i know smokedup12 had suggested a squirrel fan those ive heard are way loud and i was looking at a stand alone filter that can be seperate from my growbox "kinda cuts down on the stealth when you gotta add all this" but my initial idea was to get a can fan big enought for 1 producer but this may even do 2 producers this combo http://www.aghydroponics.com/Can-Combo-33-Filter-6-Can-Fan-p/filtercombo-350464.htm im thinking standard as high output with 6" can fan 50 will be overkill but then again i have not alot of experience with this kind of set up anyway the plan is to atttach a aluminuim ducting from the exhaust and have the open end pointing at the can fan filter of this set up to clean air as soon as it exits the producer what do u think can fan 33 or 50, no can fan ,good idea, bad idea, what do u think

Happihour, no probs man.

Salinas,

That's basically the setup I am considering for my Producer on this grow. I'm looking at purchasing essentially the same setup with a 4" inline fan and big can filter. My cost on those items would be about $170 at my hydro shop. The goal ultimately is to increase the amount of air being replaced in the grow chamber. I'm just not sure if I should do something with the current fans if I do that (thinking the inline fan might overpower them).

im not sure if i understand this part you mean you want more air intake why would the inline over power if the inline is not really connected to the box and you say a 4" inch fan will do how many cfm do you know the ratings on this i think the 6" cfm is 200 and 170 is pretty good im probably getting mine from the website i added but still thinking this might be to much

I mean, if I connect the more powerful inline fan through ducting to the exhaust where the whisper fan is, I wonder if I will damage the whisper fan in any way (or if I should just remove that fan altogether). I'm not a physics major, so I can't explain why it would necessarily be a bad thing, but my hydro sales guy alerted me to this. I don't recall the cfm on the fan I was looking at. Currently I have my dehumidifier running and the filter off, and my humidity is at 55% inside the box which I can live with. I might try ducting the exhaust straight into the big can filter before adding the inline fan. That might be enought to keep the air moving and the humidity stable.

hey buddy.. finally someone else around here is growing the Nirvana Ice strain.

Thought I was the only one. LOL.

Well, technically I'm done with that strain.. however I have my last 'Ice' plant in flowering right now. Only about 1.5 weeks into flowering.. just starting to show hairs around all the nodes. Being this is my last plant.. from my 5pck of feminized Ice.. I want this one to be the best plant, of the pack. The ones I harvested about 2 months ago.. were alright. The buds were a little too airy for my likings.. I like dense nugs. But, I might have made a mistake.. and accidentally dried the buds just a little too fast.. I think that's what caused the buds to be so airy. But the strain tastes great.. and the high is spectacular!

So, I was just wondering if you have.. or if anyone else has.. any growing tips/advice for the Ice strain??

I've also got my new strain in the mail. Got them about two weeks ago today.. and germinated two of them the same day that they arrived in the mailbox. They both sprouted nice little tap-roots by the next afternoon the next day. I then planted them.. and they're both doing great as of today.. today is day #12 of veg. Oh, the strain I got this time.. is Nirvana's AK48 (feminized of course, to cut down on chances of males)

So, again, if you.. or anyone else has any tips/advice for either the Ice or AK48 strain.. please feel free to share them with me.

Thanks.
peace.

yea i think the inline will overpower the small fans in the pro my plan was to just have aluminuim ducting from the exhaust and have the can fan filter combo outside my box and have it scrubb the producers air as soon as it exits the aluminuim ducting so the fan does not over power the small fans and it keeps u from adding attaching it to the pro do i make sense

Unless I'm not understanding, whether you attach the inline fan directly to the exhaust or connect the inline fan to the exhaust with ducting, you are still creating the same amount of suction on the small fan. Maybe it won't matter, but possibly the easy solution would be to remove the small fan.

It seems like you have more experience than me with this strain. This is my first run with it, so I have no idea right now how things are going to turn out. Once I find a strain that really works in this producer, I probably will grow that strain for quite a while. Medicineman from the growyourown blog recommends his blue cheese strain for the producer. Heavy indicas work best. My ideal strain is short, has a nice balance of yield and quality, and is mold resistant. Suggestions are welcome by all...

I have a friend who's grown a some cheese variants, and he trimmed them down to the bottom, leaving a tiny bit of side branching at the base. The result is what all of us are looking for which was a very large, 2 + foot, 1+ oz cola. Very beautiful. Not a bad smoke either!

From what I'm hearing, you want to just extend some ducting from the producers exit vent, not touching anything inside the producer at all, and have either A) that ducting attatched to a scrubber, or B) have that ducting exit near a higher powered CFM fan'd scrubber.

I don't see either of these as a very good solution. The first won't do anything because there isn't nearly enough force from the existing producer fan to drive that scrubber, and the second won't work with any sort of ducting AC setup reliably. Any serious solution for these producers must involve a direct ducting from the exhaust into another scrubber, there isn't any other way. I say this only because of my AC setup, which is shared by many other producer users. If you have an AC that is drawing a strong amount of air from the room, you're going to have a very difficult time building a scrubber without direct ducting, because the AC will always be drawing a small amount of that untreated air before it's scrubbed. I think the only way to handle this is to drastically improve the outtake air via the exhaust vent, into a better scrubber. As Ancap mentioned earlier, this might damage the existing fans in the box, but well have to see...

i may have not explained properly, the aluminuim exhaust ducting will only be there to guide the pros air straight to the filter not attached but just to guide the air to the filter there may still be a little suction on the small fan but nothing that may be a problem but then again im pretty fresh on this just my tought. i was thinking of also removing my fan but tought it would be to much work taking off and putting back on as we may only need inline carbon filter after the 2nd or 3rd week when do ur plants really start to stink?

Bud blood usualy only comes in powder, its about 25 grams i believe for the rez for just week 1. about $20 for a 40g bag. Yes its advance nutrients. too late for 36rs darkness. I would suggest putting even a 5-10 grams of bud blood in your rez with all your nutes, i swear by the blood. Not sure how much ppm room u have but if you go over u can fill your rez all the way up to the bottom of the net containers which is about 65-70L maybe more. This a good idea at the start when roots are to small to get into the rez. Speeds everything up

The pic of these roots show the same brown slimy crap that I have been trying to kill...am I an idiot is this brown earthy smelling crud ok on the roots? I just cut the crap out of mine to try and keep them clean...

the correct answer is (B) and im not quite sure about what kind of set up producer owners have how about some pictures. if there is an ac that may blow air towards the filter how about a shield maybe make a box for around the filter, i believe the filter im looking at is about 15 to 20 inches tall so i would make like a 8 to 12 inch tall box but half or so of the filter would still be exposed to create passive air and wont drive the producers fans crazy, cut a round whole for the 4" aluminuim exhaust ducting and most if not all air should reach the filter since the new inline would probably be of a higher cfm rating.
