Yeah PM sucks but ive got it under control. The Blue Russians have stopped growing and are just fattening up now. The Sour Ds on the other hand are putting on mad calyx growth!

I expect them to be ready in 10 days to two week. Already started flushing.

On the one hand, the Blue Russians with their AK-47 genetics will have smaller, but more calyxes. I can see the pistils are starting to die and roll back onto the calyxes. I don't want them getting too dense because of mold.

The Sour Diesels however are harder to tell. The calyxes are quite swollen, pistils are retracting, but because of it's sativa-dominant genetics new growth keeps on coming; hence those stacks of calyxes.

What I've learnt from this grow is to grow more indicas in autumn/winter and sativas in spring summer. Sativas have a way better resistance to mold and powdery mildew.

Day 52 of 12/12

Here's a side by side shot of one of the shorter Blue Russians (left) and a Sour Diesel (right). Notice the very different growth patterns.

Lovin' the Sativa-dominant SD's:

BR, which appear to have longer to go:

Hey I hate watching vegging too :p

I was almost dry when i started this grow, so my objective was to harvest ASAP. Everything I harvest is 100% for me. Never sold a gram and fortunately I keep "friends" at a distance since I started growing. too many scavengers...

Anyways i veg'd them for 5 days. Got them as rooted clones.

The Sour D is seriously the coolest plant I've grown. Not fussy at all, responds well to lollipopping, and just smells awesome. The smelliest strain I've had the pleasure of growing! Even for a sativa-dominant it seems like they're gonna finish way before the Blue Russians. But they won't be the biggest yielders. I also noticed they prefer a hotter, drier climate.

The Blue Russian, not surprisingly, reminds me a lot of it's grandpa (or grandma?) AK-47. Grows in a similar way, lots of pistils with small calyxes, dense buds but at the same time very prone to powdery mildew and mold, so keep humidity levels as low as you can; especially during dark hours.

It's been 8 days since my last update. My plants have completed 60 days of 12/12. I'm giving them another week tops, then I'm choppin'. Need to get the next batch started!

Here's one of the Blue Russians:

no bigger than that. Not sure about size but I know they're 6-litre pots. Originally had them in 4 litre pots. For the amount of time I veg my plants they're just fine.

Never had root-bound plants before.

Nice plants sandmonkey! Also the flower to bud ratio looks pretty good with your plants. You would have a breeze coming trim time. Great job!

I was just thinking the same thing...
Great job man, Ive had problems with powdery mildew too... used seranade but it really didn't do anything. I did the same thing, lowering the humidity to about 40 and raising the temp from 75 deg.F to 80.
Don't know about you but the trichome production seemed to go crazy, even if they were covered in that crap. Leading me to believe that either lowering the humidity or raising temps, maybe both, added to trichs.
What kind of airflow do you have and how big is the growspace? Circulation? venting in and out? Adding alot of circulation has helped me allot, after I bombed the room it hasn't showed its ugly powdery face again. I also try to keep the room as clean as possible, taking it all out and scrubbing every month, plus weekly cleanings.

Thanks guys. The plants are literally eating themselves now, so a lot of the larger fan leaves have turned yellow, then crispy, then fallen off; especially on the Sour D's.

In my experience that's the sign of smooth-burning, sweet-tasting, properly flushed buds. I try to reduce the amount of nitrates in my smoke as much as possible.

As far as powdery mildew is concerned, I think they've been taken care of. The diluted skimmed milk spray helped, as did reducing humidity (between 25-30% now!).

I also noticed that the sour D's preferred the hotter, drier climate in the grow room and increased trichome production.

My growroom is a Homebox L, so just under 11 square feet.

For exhaust I have a 4" inline fan with a carbon filter. No intake fans.

For circulation I have a Honeywell 3-speed fan, and also my dehumidifier has a built in fan so constant circulation isn't a problem.

Humidity's really the one to watch out for; especially in summer (here in Switzerland at least!).

I read into it allot when I was having the problem... From what I remember good circulation and cleanliness are essential.
Along with not crowding your plants, keeping the temp above 76 deg F and humidity below 50% helps too.
I had a small problem with it and discarded the plants, but it kept coming back... Killing all but 2 I flowered but were hesitant to smoke because of the mildew.
I pytherium bombed and cleaned the room very well after the grow was done. No more signs of mildew, But the bomb is bad for you and animals, you might want to look into differant ways if you live in close proximity. Since your grow space is small, you should be able to kill the problem quickly.
