Im not an LEDhead or anything I just think It would be a good way of compiling LED grows so that the bickering will end everytime somebody posts an LED thread.

Agreed. I'd like to see an LED sub-forum, similar to the CFL forum. LEDs are becoming much more widely used now that the technology is improved and the price has dropped.

I'd love a forum for LED users to talk with experienced LED growers.

I would also like to see a seperate LED forum. It would allow us to do a really good comparison and put it all in one area because at the moment the LED stuff is scattered across the net and a lot of it is superficial.

From what i've seen LED's at the moment don't offer great power savings because you have to use 600W of LED lights to achieve the same results as 600w of HID (and i'm not talking about equivelant wattage here). The only advantages of LED's i can see is the massively reduced amount of heat they output. That shouldn't be overlooked.

I've thought the exact same thing before. I'm very interested in LED grows, especially since they actually seem to be working nowadays. Would be so much better for users to have a sub-forum instead of having to search for the LED grows (which gets tiring!)

personally, LED lighting has a way's to go before its able to sustain enough lumen output to be worth using.

Right now, LED lighting just doesn't have the technology.

Give it a few years though, and I'm sure eventually things will get to where the need to be, in order to be worth using for growing Cannabis.

That's just my opinion though..

peace.

Lol really? Come on dude, just check out some of the grows on here. There are many units nowadays that are sufficient enough to use from day 1 all the way through flowering. Sure, a 90w UFO doesn't equal a 400w HID setup like the advertisements claim, but the lights do work with growing cannabis. You just have to do your research on what brand of LED lights are working the best and you'll be good to go.

First I replaced my 400w mh with a 600w LED that has 3w bulbs. This light saved me almost a hundred watts of power and the girls love it. The density of nodes is almost too tight! And the stems and leaves are hearter.

I was so happy I just replaced my 600w hps with an 840w LED that also has 3w bulbs. I did a lot of research beore I spent the money on these bad boys but its worth it. The girls are happier, my heat issues are almost gone, and I'm using less power!

The key is to get at least 3w led bulbs and as many spectrums as you can afford. And you have to quit expecting something for nothing- a 90w led will never come close to a 400w mh or hps. But a 600w led that pulls about 325 watts will blow away a 400w mh! And as for canopy penetration I see no issues at all- but I wouldn't say the same thing for anything but a light with 3w chips.

I looked at stealth grow and advanced leds but went with a company called Custom Spectrum. Here is the link if your interested.

I would love to see RIU consider an LED & a T5 florescent sub forum primarily because of the substantial and continued interest in these two rapidly emerging technologies. I think it’s technology that’s here to stay and I know I could stand to better learn how to use my 300 watt LED and my T5-HO’s. Also, you can’t do a post search for T5 or LED due to those being too short a word. I also believe it would allow for a considerable savings of bandwidth from all the searching.

I emailed and requested the forum administrator to consider this topic several months ago but I have yet to hear back from them. I guess they didn't like the idea. S

Plus how can replacing a 400w MH with a 600w LED panel save 100w of electricity?! Unless you were running 300w of fans...hes obviously part of that company.
