so why was the qwerkle aka'd corkle? i just finished qwerkle, two phenos. the yield was rediculously small but the quality was unmatched by any other.
LOL, the corkle came from the fact it took me 2 days and 2 bricks to keep it sunk, thats all. Just a little joke. Its in this thread a few pages back somewheres. And you are correct, small yield, monter buzz and a flavor that is out of this world! Actually I have come across 4 different phenos, each with their differences. But all wonderful none the less.

Side track. My CMH is performing above expectations, for veg anyways. It been on 12/12 for about a week now. Just waiting for the magic to unfold. Do you mind if I post a pic of how great the plant looks?
Please do cowboy, Riddle has started a CMH club and I don't think he would mind. Interested to see how they are doing? I was just going to use it for flower and stay with the CFL's for veg so I can keep it somewhat perpetual?

ok, you are starting to sell me on the CMH, may pic one up when i order new lights :-) two 1000 watters here i come! then use my 600 as a veg, and maybe pick up another to use with MH for a mixed spectrum in my flower, read your nuggets, and sold me on that as well. i did use a UVB bulb though in this last grow, for about 3.5 weeks, put them about 8 inches from the top for 5 minutes, of each plant, 3-4 times a week.

idk if it made a difference in THC but in Resin it definitely did. i had whole new stalks pop up especially on my WW. oh jarred up 5 of the plant's side nugs, not including the colas, and hit 220 grams. i still have 19 colas on them that are going to weigh on average of 10 grams each. :-)

unfortunately CMH biggest bulb is 400 watts, there was talk about making a 1000 watter but as yet has not happened and most compare a 400 watt CMH to a 600 watt HPS as far as growing goes,,,also note that you CAN NOT use a digital balast with CMH

nooooo. darn, i guess i will just have to breakdown and get a magnetic ballast, 400 watt of course, then veg with it. then use my 600 for mixed spectrum in my flowering, so id have 2600 watts in my flower and 400 with myabe some T-5 side lighting, for veg. sigh,

Hey riddle , good to see ya back up and running and as i said somewhere earlier on this thread i cant wait to see you do a full on grow first hand :D . When i harvest i have some interesting stuff to show you regarding making it rain and nutrient schedule, the technique has given visible results to the original test plant but the extent is amazing, pics will tell it all i think so in around 2 weeks watch out for my chop there will be a little section in there dedicated to making it rain and my experiment :bigjoint:

A quick background on the plant. Its a clone taken the middle of May. It was vegged outside until June 8th. At which time it was supercropped and put under the CMH. Here is a pic of it right after supercrpping.journal 141.jpg It continued to veg under the CMH until the end of June. 22 days. Then was switched to 12/12 on July 1st. Here is a pic of it today, 8 days into 12/12.journal 331.jpg In my experince most plants when subjected to light source changes. IE sun-hid, hid-sun, fluoros-hid ect.... usually have some pause in growth while they acclimate. This plant did not miss a beat as you can see. And I expected way more yellowing low in the plant due too the lack of penetration of the CMH vs. the sun. Actually very little and no signs of any stress due to the switch. Now to see how it buds a plant. But so far I am pretty impressed with its performance.

Riddle is correct. And as right now, the 400 is probaly going to be as big as it gets. These lights are made for commercial display purposes, not growing. Its just us growers are like Mikey, we'll try anything. Possibly down the road, but not in the mear future. As far as the digital ballast is concerned he is also correct, but.... I have been using 600 HPS Eye Hortilux bulbs for almost a year now in my Lumatek ballast, a newer version with 'soft start' technology will no problems at all. So I am going to get another CMH to try in my switchable Lumatek ballast. See what happens? And I would not go shopping for a CMH on Ebay. They have caught on and the prices are going up. Here is the best deal I have found so far. http://www.growlightexpress.com/ceramic-metal-halide-bulbs-9/mastercolor-ceramic-metal-halide-400-watt-79.html EDIT: Thanks Riddle, any info from your pal yet on how the 'cure' is going?

Wow! Now that is some nice growth for 30 day's.(from supercropping till today) That is going to be one huge bush in a couple weeks. Do you think she will double in size from the stretch maybe triple with that bulb? Anyway I can't wait till I order mine.

Thanks for the pic's

I am really not expecting much stretch at all. That is one of the benefits of using the sun early in veg. I doubt it gains much more than 6-10 inches in height, if that. And the CMH is the closest bulb I have seen so far in comparison to the sun spectrum. But even plants I veg outdoors in the summer then move right to 12/12 hps for flower stretch very little. Dependant on the strain and pheno of course.

Very nice plant cowboy, she's a big girl!!

So what are your opinions on the CMH regarding temps? Is there a light you would compare it to, ie large cfl, hps, mh??

Please post some update pics of her so we can see the progress!

Thats cool. What about using it for veg? Does it minimize the stretch also when switched to flower?

I would have to say a typical 400 MH. Its not a flame thrower by no means. And less than the 400 Hortilux HPS. From just the basic hand under the light test. As for as room temps go it has been unseasonably hot here, mega hot for us. Just busy trying to keep things cool for now. Not just this light but a couple of 600s also. So really do not have an honest call on that yet.

I am looking forward to the first grow from start with it. I think with the right timing and height placement. Projecting the plants height throughout the grow should be 'predictable'. In theory that is. In as stable of an indoor enviroment I can give it. And I gotta tell ya. Pretty confident.

Haha thanks I didn't know anyone else called em Bingers, although I have moved on to the term "Snappers" :D Also I was wondering if you had any experience with MH conversion bulbs for HPS setup. If they do make a difference I would be interested in purchasing one.
