I use the test soil kits, they work really well for what they are. Fuck the probes I bought one too, waste of money.

Your best bet would to be go Organic if you are on a budget. You don't worry so much about ph.

...amen! If your growing in soil, stay organic...your plants will thank you. Your soil's pH will swing as it dries no matter what you do, you cannot dial in your pH while growing in soil. Get some dolomite lime, dechlorinize and pH your tap water to 6.5...thats the best you can do....good luck.

the two prong analogue things are a heap of shite.

i spent £20 on a digital and i have not had to re-calibrate it in maybe 10 months now. i test it now and then with a ph 7 buffer solution, right on the money. also waterproof so i use it to stir my mixture up at the same time :P

Hi ya King :)

I went and got one the other day for £6 ...and to be honest its a waste of time i think .... the needle never moved... i left it in there for abot 2 hours and kept checking it ... nothing ... i dipped it in some PH Buffer 7 Solution and it still stayed on 7 .... i got a bit pissed off with it and stuck it in some PH Down solution and it jumped off the scale ....lol it went nuts ... So it works ... but in soil it never seemed to budge from 7 - or + ... I use canna Coco and have been keeping my water at 5.8 at all times ...so i doubt very much if my Coco has magicly risen to exactley PH 7

Im gonna go and try it in the garden ...brb :)

My soil was reading 7 with that shit too. But the test kit reads it at about 6.4 or something, and same the meter never moved. How do they get away with selling these things that don't even work? Hah

This is my first organic season and I am stoked and loving every step. It's so different treating the medium and roots instead of the above. Thinking about a worm farm found a great one on e bay.

Thanks for the info guys ! BOut what i thought the probes are bullshit and the test kits are about the only thing you can do. Without shelling out for an expensive meter and testing your runoff.
I,m using organic nutrients so based off what u guys are saying I ,m probaly just worried about it too much . Thanks mind at ease now ! Time to light up !Oh I + your rep

I wouldn't be too worried, however only the Big Bloom is 100% organic.

Only Big Bloom is organic. The rest is synthetics. What you want to do is use only organics if no meter, that way the beasties below will adjust everything for you. Just feed light and keep soil from going dry and they will do there job. Now the FF Big Bloom is a wonderful product, I use 1/2 cup per gallon as soon as I see flower tops coming up in 12/12 then 1tbl per gallon after that. It really gives the soil a boost. My Avatar is SLH amigo. The best smoke I have ever had. Such a clear, laughing high, and all is IRIE.

...good info, again. Look into organic teas sometimes...the results are amazing once ya get a good recipe.

Here's a copy and paste of my personal favorite for ya if your interested. (might wana take heave):peace:

What you'll need:
Seabird guano, bat guano, earth worm castings, kelp meal (or liquid seaweed), molessas, a bubble stone and bubble pump, a paint strainer. 5 gallon bucket.
What to do:
Get a couple of gallons of water from tap....let set on bubbles over night to dechlorinize it, then pH balance the water to 6.5....take a couple tablespoons of each (worm castings, seabird, bat, kelp, molessas) and put inside paint strainer and tie shut...hang the mix over the bubble stone to make movement/activity in the water....let set for 24-48 hours....put 2 cups of this per gallon to new dechlorinized pH balanced water, then water in once weekly.

...you'll want to back up off of the earthworm castings and the seabird guano in mid flower to eliminate nitrogen avalibility.
...the molessas and liquid seaweed are liquid , however, still use table spoon measurements.
...stop giving tea @ weeks 5 for an 8 week strain, or allow a couple weeks to leach/flush (not so important organically but, I prefer to save the $)

trichlone fiend; Yeah I am moving towards TLO but for now I go to the local nursery and buy 5 gallon of fresh worm tea for 3$ a gallon. I soak every plant every 2 weeks with it, I also add Mycro Madness to it (humboldts).
I am way loving all the hands on that organic growing as to offer and can not wait to get to the point of TLO.

Goldem Ganja,
Thats the Super Lemon Haze? My computers colors must be a touch off, it looks like almost a pinkish/whiteish tint to it. Still looks DAMN good though. Whats your yeild per plant like on that? and whats TLO stand for? Thanks

...yeah man, nothing like the taste of organic buds. My long journey into this started off in soil w/ chemical fertilizers. Couple crops down, and after many plant issues, I decided to focus on strictly organics...I near shit myself 5-6 weeks into flowering with my tea.

...if it wasn't for the mess, I'd probably grow strictly organic...I'm mostly hydro now (ebb'n flow)...the water is just much easier to deal with at my present...but I am a couple weeks away from a "personal" organic harvest of Afghan kush, Blue Cheese, Northern Lights x Big Bud, northern lights x skunk #1, Pure Power....awe, I can't wait to smoke that organic blue cheese...:eyesmoke:

Probes are a waste of money leave well alone, but i would say get a digital ph tester these are the best around. If you are wanting to test the ph of the soil then has long has the nutes are phed then there is realy no need to be that worried about the soils ph.But you can test the run of after watering but i have found this practice does not make that much differance if the plants look happy leave em be.....................tyke,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Yeah it was more of a whitish tint, thats all the trichs. I only got 4 oz off her. But that was the first time I grew it so I was cautious. TLO = True Living Organics. There are 2 types of Organic growers, pseudo and TLO . I am Pseudo at the moment, which means I am useing Organic nutrients. TLO is making your own nutrients useing living organisms.

My first shot of Organics is being harvested now and 2 weeks ago. It was a simple Diesel auto (first auto grow too) I got 3 oz of a Diesel. I was stoked. The high was great, short lived (1.5 hrs). No one knows it a auto when I smoke with them, they think it's a good diesel strain, lol. I have a full line up of Organics going, T.W., LA Con, Rock Lock, The Church, SLH, and OG #18. You have organic cheese coming up and soon ready huh. Thats going to be a true flavor. Happy harvest Trichlone
