get the 400 hps switchable , hands down. You could probably get a package for less then $140 with hangars, nice hood,2 bulbs hps and mh and a switchable ballast.

600 watt is good for a 4x4 space. 400 watt 3x3. 1000 watt 6x6 feet. You want about 50 watts per sq ft. Divide your watts by the square footage of your grow space to get watts per sq ft.

Just to note my now midgrade pc has a 600 watt power supply. 150 watts really isn't that much at all .What, i think you can have 5000 or 6000 watts per 15 amp breaker? I think there is an equation that will figure out your electricity bill with a little bit of algebra and your electricity bill or info on cost .
its not about watts brotha...its about amps and it will also depend on if you run em 110 or 220...no way you are getting 5 1k's or 6 1k's on a 15 amp

thats is true i believe my 400w draws 4 amps. if you are running on a 15 amp breaker then you only rant to run maybe 12 amps but i would only go to 10 without knowing current electrical wiring conditions. 5 or 6 1000w on a 15 amp circut will blow or burn your house down

well i cant say i know but i do know that i am so happy with my 150's i never expected them to do as well as they did i looked at a 400 watt today and i just think its overkill for the size of my boxes ! if my 150 can do this than i would love to see what monsters a 400 watt would do in the same space {:shock:KAZZAAAM!} maybe one day i will make my flowering box twice as big and toss that bad boy in there but we will see ! so you guys still havent suggested any pages that you found amazing or something that everyone must see ? should i start my own thread on that? oh and BTW PICS NEXT WEEK :hump:!!! HAVE A FRIEND LETTING ME USE THEIR CAMERA !! oh and help the noob out ! when curing in jars do you put them in jars about a wheek after harvest then open them daily to realease moisture right ? i have alway cured two wheeks {strung up in an old barn} not exactly advanced but has alway made some good tasting stuff. i guess you can call me an old school educated young grower {two 80 year old men taught me :weed:}

k....for curing....first you will know when your buds are dry by squeezin em...when they feel dry they are dry....second....i always hang my colas up but...before curing i cut all the buds away from the main stem so they are nugs...give you a more even cure..you cant over burp your jars...every 30 minutes is not too much. so burp away and enjoy in a few more weeks :P

fruity pebbles.....fimming and topping or surcropping is what makes you plants grow bushy...not really the hps...hps light is intense so it will keep your plants from stretching as they would under cfl...so it does have a lot to do with space between nodes...but we are shooting for short spacing not long spacing.

as far as electrical goes....you never wanna run more than 80% of your breaker load....so to make math simple lets say 20amp breaker....you only wanna be runnin 16 amps max. a 1k light will pull 5 amps when wired for 220 and 10 amps when wired to 110....so...really the only way to even fit 2000 wats on a 15amps breaker is to have it all wired for 220.

here is a little reference so you know what you can draw from your regular old house recepticles
10A * 110V = 1100W and 80% safe usage is 880W
15A * 110V = 1650W and 80% safe usage is 1320W
25A * 110V = 2750W and 80% safe usage is 2200W
30A * 110V = 3300W and 80% safe usage is 2640W

be safe :) not dead

yup good info . more technical then my advice +rep. being here in CA where it seems like everyone grows its easy to see why you shoul know these things before setting up a grow. it seems like atleast once a week a grow house is on the news for burning down due to overloaded circuits or faulty wiring. growing is fun but not worth your life or neighbors.

agreed lol....the shit people do scares me sometimes. i just happen to own a remodeling company so its all stuff i need to know.....kinda on hand info. i may not grow the best pot but i can build a sick fuckin growroom :) lol

Like honkey said all those techniques like Lst, Fimming and Supercropping will get you a bush and as far as node spacing that might be a host of things distance from lights to genetics...

is it the hps that makes your plants grow bushy and with little length between nodes?

haha i know . im in construction and sometime i wonder how people can do some of the things they do. i built my cab in under an hour and when im on here i hear bout people takin 3 or 4 days to frame it out . . guess we dont all have the skill or common sense

always ready for sum plant porn...girls are looking gud bro!!!! whats all that coloring thats happening? are those your pistils turning reddish orange?

Thanks for the info on burping i was curious if it mattered but its seems like burping releases the gas emitted by the little green still left in the bud, so burping is crucial!!!
mest def. when in the closed jar its drawing the moisture from the inside back out to the entire bud . no burp = mold / mildew

I like a "bush" better for growing outside. 10ft tall plants are easier to spot than a 4 ft tall bush. They don't blow over or break in the wind as easy. There are many other great benefits to supercropping, topping.... other than just greater yield.

si senor....burping is very crucial. the color you see is just the pistils turning to red orange hairs.....then there is all the crystally trichs on the leaves...mmm my favorite part
