My first grow

Hey all, first post here. Awesome forum :)

So i've got a room, 3'6"x 9'4" or so.
Concrete ceiling and floor. 4 drywalled walls covered in reflective elastomeric paint

At first i was just gonna go CFLs for as long as possible and then get an HPS setup for flowering. It's too finicky for me, can't get the lights right etc, so i THINK i've decided on getting a 600w kit (comes with an osram plantastar) and an adjustawing, and using this on a 3.5'x3.5' area, and then if i like it i'll double up, possibly have a veg side and flower side.

Kit is about $250 and the adjustawing $160 (CDN $)

Is this my best way to go?
Have people used these with the super spreader and should i get it as well?
any other advice for me or more details needed? i'll put some pics up later tonight maybe but it's nothing special at the moment!

Doh. i should probably add that i'm growing in soil!

once the 600w kit is in i will most likely hang a few CFLs around the edges still

I am going to run a nexgen 600w ballast in a super sun2 cooled hood. Nextgen ballast are switchable from 400/600 watts. You might look into them, They are about 180 and the super sun 2 hood was 120. Both great products . I would not run a wing reflector with a 600w unless you live in a very cold climate and you are using the lights to warm up the room.

well as i said this thing is surrounded by concrete.. it's actually underground. it's fairly cold inside. i'm more worried about getting the absolute most light i can from it so i can grow a smaller number of high-yielding plants (for parental reasons...)

you mention that your room is surounded by concrete,as is mine.1 thing that I overlooked when I was setting up my room was humidity,it was no big deal for veg but to high for budding so I had to by a dehumidifyer to correct the problem.and a little added cost but all is well now peace and grow on

luckily i already have one! my room is really inside of another room, which i draw air from and is where the dehumidifier is. i exhaust to the outside. is your setup similar or did you have to put it right inside your room? i may do this anyway but it will start to get very tight inside
