Cal Mag def ????

I woke up this morning and found my plant starting to get sick.

Help

I'm thinking either over fert or cal mag def. Ph going in the soil is 7.2 runoff is 6.5. The only thing they're maybe not getting enough of is cal mag.
I instantly flushed with ph 7.2 water what should I do now? Wait and use plain water or feed some nutes and get some cal mag?

OK, taking matters into my own hands this is what I did.
I went to lowes and got some lime to bring the soil ph up and add calcium then I fed the hell out of them with jack's nutes and lime plus put lime on top of the soil I'll let you know in the morning if anything happens. Also used blackstrap molasses 1 tablespoon per gallon.

Any suggestions???

this could be a reason why people havent helped you out.

What EC level are you running your nutes at?

Thanks for stopping by jon Yeah the best I can find is lockout of calcium and magnesium due to low soil ph.

Using FF OF soil and my water is 7.2 but my runoff is lower than the tester reads which is 6.4 and it looks much lower than that.

Man all day all I've done is research this problem but it's still hard to tell if I over fed or if I'm having a ph issue.

I don't feed heavily at all 1/2 strength FF Tiger Bloom and a little organic tea brewed by the hydro shop every 3rd watering.

I'm hoping the lime will bring the soil ph up also first thing in the morning I'm going to get some molasses.

You did the right thing with the lime, but I'd hold off on the nutes for a bit. No sense dumping them on if they are locked out due to low pH.

Give the lime at least a week before any more 'solutions'. The pics look like overwatering?

Just water for a week and then see what you've got. Gotta be patient.

Hey thanks for the advice bud. The only other thing I did was give them a little blackstrap molasses.

So ph water for a week with no nutes and see how they do.

They haven't got any worse so I think it's working.

u need to use water with a p.h. of 6.4 - not 7.2

Why my runoff is already way lower than 6.4 I'm thinking around 5 but my test strips only go to 6.4. The color is several shades lighter than the 6.4.

Once the lime has settled in and working there will be little to no need to pH your water. The lime in the soil will do it for you.

hey chain. I saw some similar coloration on mine. I didnt do any calcium or lime myself. but I did do a couple flushes then started the blackstrap molasses and that brought the new green back. Its full of calcium and magnesium. I just added a tablespoon to my half gallon of water and fed it til that was gone then did a half gallon of plain water til it was gone and so on. I think youre doing good by doing low nutes to begin with. some people do an epsom salt or hydrogen peroxide mix when they flush. I just used water and kept it going til the runoff was clear. hope this helps.

It does appear to be a calcium deficiency Chainseeker. Flushing with high ph water will not bring your soil's ph back up. The ph of your water has a minor effect on the ph of your soil. Its the alkalinity of your water that has the greatest affect on the ph of your soil. Did you ever apply any lime to your soil before planting anything in it? The lime now should bring your ph back up to what you need.

Hey Chain. Not sure how to fix your problem, but wanted to stop by and give support! I have never used soil so don't wanna advise something that will harm your plat more. I did have a simikar issue with Peachez and it was due to the ph level being outside the good range. I think you are on the right track, it may take a few days before you know though. Hang in there!

Thanks for the support guys. The problem hasn't spread any at the rate it was going they would be dead by now. I think with all the help I may be on the right path. That last post by dave is the best I've read to figure out your plant problems. THANK YOU DAVE VERY MUCH. Now I'm just worried about the smallest one most of the older leaves are fried and she don't have many left. She does have a tiny bit of new growth but we'll see. Thanks again guys I'll let you all know how they're doing in a day or two.
