No there are not slimy. They are strong and kinda toughAre they slimy? Some nutes (like GH) can stain the roots colors.
Rootrot will cause the roots to be slimy.
yes I soaked my hydroton over night. Imma do a res change today and run with just water to see if it clears them up. How long should I run it and can somebody give me a h202 formula? Like how do you mix it? What kinda peroxide to use?One other question is did you soak your Hydroton pebbles to remove any of the build up that occurs on them?
They could just be getting stained from the Pebbles if you didnt rinse them well.
agreed though that H2o2 will help kill any bacteria or Pythium that is on your roots but if you use any beneficial bacteria it will also kill those.
You could try flushing with plain water.
Healthy roots are white and fine if they start to look too thick then you could have some sort of root rot starting.
Up the very top of your pot it looks like there is either a big cluster of roots starting to clump together or it is a single root hair that is swelling up and looking larger than the rest. when your roots look huge ie a single root strand that is massive this is usually the start of pythium.
Are you using any sterilising agent in your nutes to keep your water clean from bad bacteria? Pythoff or something similar?

ok i already had added 3% h2o2 before you responded pdn247 think I should use a stronger solution?1 tsp of 30 or 35 percent h202 per gallon can be mixed right with your nutes or you can just do it as your flush unless your running beneficial bacteria, i would just mix it with the nutes and leave it till the next refill, it won't hurt your plants. in fact it will deliver a massive amount of oxygen to your roots giving them a good boost
Not to worry. Liquid Karma stains roots, just like in your picture.
