Hortilux is among the best bulbs out there. Ive never read any bad reviews about them aside from being incompatible with digital ballast(bulb failure eventually). No clue if they've fixed that problem yet. Im using an Ushio bulb at the moment, and Im very happy with the rate of growth for my plants. Of course, the plants under my generic HPS bulb are also growing great as well. I wont have any idea as to whether its worth investing in top of the line bulbs until after a harvest using only clones, but if you got money to spend, you may as well go for the top of the line ones. Even a modest gain in yield is worth the increased investment.

:blsmoke:That's what I was leaning towards Hortilux the price is up there but that's not a problem. Any other suggestions, anybody please feel free to tell your experience's with 400w MH and HPS bulbs.

Woodsmaneh!

I have a 400w conversion Ive only seen 430w HPS bulbs not MH but I know what your talking about they will work in a 400w ballast. Whats the best brand to go with? Because I was thinking about getting a 430w bulb but wasn't sure if it was worth it.

You can veg and flower under this light due to the wide spectrum it provides.

not a lot of people use them yet, but i'd say they are comparable at 400 watts to te 430 hort, plus less heat and equivalent or close spectrum. I'm getting one next month after i start to flower

Will the ceramic metal halide work in my 400w conversion ballast?

I Guess I'm more worried about a good HPS bulb to use.
