A Case Full Of Glass

so are you telling me you wont make one like that? and weight doesnt mean anything? durability is what i know about thick glass but i guess most high end glass blowers dont make their glass pieces thick and heavy because it is just the lame thing to do, i guess since its just glass and those attributes have nothing to do with durability...

your glass still sucks ;) but it doesnt suck as bad as some of your older stuff.
 
or am i again going to hear about how much my free pipe sucks? are you skeered to make something like that or is it that you dont have the skillz?
 
my glass is thick. i can put clear dots all over it and make it weigh whatever you'd like. i never really thought about it. i like nice thick glass. my glass is nice and thick.


you really seem upset over this. i have nothing to prove. i never once said "i am badass". i often exclaim how janky shit my looks. and how i really need to get busy. i have no idea where or why you are coming at me the way you are. if you don't like my glass, don't buy it. don't even look here anymore. you are being rude and insulting. not only is it against forum rules, but it's pointless as well.

i don't even understand what it is about that pipe that is so amazing. if i did i could try to make something like that. i don't have that color frit though so the body would look a different color. is it the shape? looks somewhat short and fat to me. i kinda prefer a more slender look, but am open to try making something fat and short. is it the honeycomb on the end? that's like day one clear dots on fumed silver. i quit doing that a long time ago. i do colored implosions or wiggies now. i can go back to clear dotes though. would you mind if i made them hella tighter together though? give them a more squared up look. more like a real honeycomb. or are you simply focused on the thickness. sometimes too thick can be as bad as too thin. especially if the wrong colors are used or it's not annealed properly.


i could sit down and make ISO frit spoons all day for a week and bust out ones just like this one. if that was the direction i wanted to go in. i'm more an "abstract artist". it lets me get away with making junk, while still be able to sell it. :wink:
 
that pipe is almost 6" long i dont know it is the best free piece i have ever gotten, yeah he honeycombed the end then flipped it inside out and the actual dots are in the glass it is a variety of colors I can get a better picture if you are interested in making something similar, sorry about putting my loud voice out there, and i really do think you have improved since i started looking at your stuff. and if your final product is way better then what i have i will be first in line to buy one.

i will sit down and get some better pictures of what it is since the pictures i posted dont really do it justice.

he poured ground up color down a tube and melted it in. nothing there is flipped. then he puffed out the end of the bowl, fumed it with some silver, put some dots of clear on it and melted it back in. i mean no offense, but it's so basic i simply skipped it. i have one or to in my drawer from a year ago.


my wife came out and asked what i was doing. i told her "an IDO frit spoon" she giggled and said "you better not". she pretty much wins over anyone on this forum. sorry. :(

i dont know i watched him blow this piece he started with a big chunk of clear then added the honey comb domes on the outside when to adding some other stuff then turned the entire piece inside out on itself so i dont really know what you mean he didnt flip it inside out.

that's about the hardest way he could have gone about doing that. :neutral:

still looks like frit dumped into a tube to me. and the honeycomb would have to have been done after it was flipped.

he is better than me. you win.

can we move on now?
 
well my 2 cents my fdd pipe is kick ass and thick and durable. and a bowl that holds a nice fat pack. by far the best pipe ive had or smoked out of.

it pretty much costs the same going anywhere within the US. the boxes i ship them in are $1.69 each. postage is usually 2 - 3, depending on weight. then there is bubble wrap, tape, shipping popcorn and address labels. i have to leave my house and drive to the shipping office as well. i usually mail out the same day or the next day, unless the shipping office is closed. i should jack it up to 7 dollars. :wink:

Would it be possible to make a bowl, so that when it is sitting on the piece, it looks like the glass is in liquid form and melting/about to drip onto the floor? Somewhat like the third one in my post?

I thought that sounded like a cool idea, but do as you wish your the artist :bongsmilie:
