i have a 2x4x5 tent. i use for flowering as of right now. I'm planning on grabbing at least a 400 hps from htg. Now, I know i'm losing some height with the reflector that comes with it. I would also like to upgrade to a CMH at some point.
i'm a soil grower. I lst. maybe scrog eventually since my height is so little.
I also plan on getting one of their 8 inch duct booster fans rated at 500 cfm. just one fan for right now.
My room temps outside the tent range from 70 to 80.

my question

what would you change and how would you set it up??:leaf:

I wouldnt get a booster fan as your exhaust fan. They are meant to boost already moving air through a duct. They are not efficient at pulling static air out of a room (like a centrifugal fan; Vortex, Can, etc). You will not even get close to 500CFM with that fan.

Also, why are you "upgrading" to a MH? HPS is better for flowering/ MH for vegging. it's better to run a HPS from seed to harvest than a MH; though some will disagree. If you get a 400W and a tent that's 5' high, you might need a cooltube or some sort of cold air intake.

so you don't think that will be enough to cool the light???? hmm ... oh i wasn't going mh .. i plan on getting an hps but i've heard great things about cmh bulbs. I've read they outperform hps in some cases. so what to you think? a duct fan will not exhaust or blow enough air to cool that lamp?

i think you are on the right track. get a vortex fan tho. i would also get a temp adjuster on the fan. so when your temps get to hi it will turn on the fan. i would use your fan for exhaust. that is first. the negative pressure will pull in cold air. and go hydro....lol
