inline duct fans

If I use 2 inline duct (250cfm each) fans in the same exhaust run does that mean I am moving 500cfm of air or do I need to have them seperated with 2 seperate runs? Im trying to get the best performance to exhaust air from my grow area.

inline fans are different in my experiences, the inline fans have a air flow boost rating and a actual rating, the boost rating is always the one I see advertised, so your getting less power if it's your sole fan. good thing you have two to work with. How many lights are you using? how small is your space, need more info...

^ Correct. Booster fans work best when the air is already moving (between ducts and such). When trying to pull static air out of a grow room, they work half as well.

Damn that figures. It actually took 2 before I could see that air was being moved from the room out of the vent. I used a dryer vent to thr outside and it has those flaps that close if there is no air movement. The flaps are opening now and moving so I know Im moving air but I still think not enough. Anyone know where I can get fan that will actually move 500 cfm for a reasonable price? I could by 2 more and that should move some air if I keep them all in line? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Man, seriously, I'm no stock holder or anything but I'm telling you, save up and get something at least middle road quality, something crappy will waste your time and money when it either doesn't work or breaks and your heat levels go up to 120 degrees before you know it and all your plants are dead....
I use htgsupply and Growco
both these sites have good stuff at good prices...

i just bought a 400 cfm hrdrofarm inline for 140 bucks. comes with a 5 year warranty too. If there is one thing not to skimp on it is ventilation i believe. Also as previously posted we really need more info to answer your questions like how many lights, what type of hood/s and where in the ducting system your fans are placed.

I tried one you're talking about in my cabinet and it just didn't work. Apparently they're only that rating if the air is already moving. Also if you have any angles in your ducting you can expect even lower cfm.

What about the biggest computer fan from radioshack. Or what else would work? Design would be one ducting connected to hps fan put in middle other ductig leading from fan to outside

wait, didn't you say that you were doing this in a box? or is that another thread?

If your serious about it man, I'd say spend the money and get something useful and don't jerry rig it, there are many other things down the road that might require that! :)
Ventilate that space down cool enough any way you see fit, as long as it's the temperature the plant likes, it'll grow...

good lcuk

don't shortcut ventilation...those duct fans may work in small application only. good growing
