Hanna, Oakton or Milwaukee?

Been using a hanna combo PH/TDS/EC temp meter its messing up 1 day past warranty but it was always saying it calibrated correctly but i have my doubts. Was at the hydro shop today and some lady was returning a brand new out of the box meter same as mine wouldnt read the correct 7.01 on display after calibration guy pulled 3 of the same new type and style of meters out of the box and couldnt get them to calibrate properly either its a Hanna HI98129 she ended up getting a hanna growcheck meter it calibrated. So you think it is that particular model of hanna that sucks or all the new hannas peroid. I need a new meter and am trying to decide if i should go with another hanna different model or maybe oakton or milwaukee or some othe, to all hydro growers what do you use and has it served you well and do you Trust is readings
Could really use some input.

I have an Oakton pH meter. They are a bit more expensive but I love mine!:blsmoke:

Thanks to all for the input oakton and bluelab are nice but cant deal with the price I ordered a milwaukee super price, good accuracy. Seen a lot of problems lately with the hanna combo pens and hana in general probably new manufacturer cheaper parts. Talked to a guy who works for city waste water division they use milwaukee had problems with the hanna they abuse them and it just didnt stand up. Also botany professor at community college he likes his milwaukee to although he said replacement probes a little high.

i was having calibration problems with my hana meter, new batteries took care of it. didn't find out until after i bought a new one so i have a sweet backup.

fuck hanna and oakton! lol, buy milawaukee or HM. These have decent priced, milawaukee 56 for 50 or 60 I think that work awesome and have replaceble electrodes. They run 30 dollars. I have had my 20 dollar hm ph pen for ever and 2 months or so for my milawaukee auto cal 0.0 with temp comp and replacable electrodes. The ph 56 I think. Or 55. Or is it the 53? Lol, they are all almost the same. For 80 bucks HM makes a killer yellow and whie model on eBay. I did read a few bad reviews tho but there are retards out there who let shit dry out. I looked for a long time before I bought mine. It comes with a 2 year warranty. Fun to use.

I have a Hanna HI98312 and never been able to cablibrate it. Had to purchase another one.

new hanna and milwaukee are the same meters...

same case. same place of manufacture. same manufacture.

you do the math.

hanna grochek have temp, the milwaukee does not. the hanna featureset is better but the hardware is seemingly the same.

my sm100 just took a shit on me, still under warranty but it has put a bad taste in my mouth.

it calibrates perfectly, but DOES NOT read ph accurately. at all. luckily a buddy had a new sm802 laying around to help me diagnose my meter, or i would have NEVER found the problem.

going back to litmus strips.

I bought the oakton PCS tester 35 and she worked beautifully for a year, until I took a month off. I let it dry out (which oakton says is ok) then I rehydrated it (which oakton recommends) Now it reads the three pH solutions relatively closely but it doesn't auto-detect the proper buffer anymore. Consequently I can't calibrate it. Fuck auto detect buffer, they ought to let us program in the buffer. The stupid meter ran home to mama and there is no way to fix it except buy a $100 replacement probe (after shipping). Fuck oakton. Fuck oakton again. I paid $185 plus extra for the cal solutions and their shit runs home to mama.

So I was able to recondition my probe on my ph meter. I soaked it in probe cleaning solution for several hours (dillute HCL). Then I soaked it in KCl overnight. The probe is still a little temperamental about the auto detect solution feature, but I am able to calibrate it now. If your using an Oakton Testr model it really helps to clean the probe and store it dry if you're going to not use it for more than a few days.

Rehydrate it for a couple hours with calibration solution prior to the next use.

Pain in the ass but it saves you 80bucks on a replacement probe.

I've had a number of meters in a decade and a half..... My hannahs were my favorites but they broke more often than the oaktons which I still have one (a TDS-only meter) is service after almost 15-year.
