hey potheads...i had a ??? i got a pc grow going with a 6 inch plant lst but i noticed lookind at the main stem coming up and where the branches meet theres the two little nods poking out the side (i have no idea what it is) but on my plant the nodes looked like it shrivld up and turnt brown..is this a bad thing???
anytime anythin on your plant turns brown, it is a bad thing. first thought would be too much/not enough nutrients. go to a kmart n get a kit that has 4 vials in it wit a lil powder in each one. one for PH, one for Nitrogen, one for Phosphorous, and one for Potash. its simply called Soil Test Kit n its bout 4 bucks. will tell you the problem

hi just a question

i am looking at using miracale grow organic choice mixed with perlite what ratio would i mix it

and also what sort of fert is recomended
you will hear different opinions from everyone you ask, but i recommend not using anythin tat says miracle gro on it. tats wut i startd wit and im having hella prblems wit my darlings. go to htgsupply.com n look through the menu on the left of the page. you will find everythin you need. from wut i have heard (n i have seen plenty of proof to back it up) fox farm ocean forest is the best soil medium to grow in. but if you can only get the miracle gro, mix bout 30% perlite/70% soil. n wait at least 5 weeks befor you feed. n when you do start feedn, start at around 1/4 of wut the package suggests n SLOWLY add more every third watering until you see leaf tips startn to burn, then step it down n stay there for a while

hey all, got some ladies on day 58 of bloom, and startin flushin 2 days ago due to some time constraints.

How long can they sustain w/ out any nutes (hydro)?

Thinkin bout lettin 'em go a little longer than a week (maybe all the way to 70 days) to try & get some more milky goodness, don't think I'll have time to go all amber for sure though.

any opinions'd be great.

thx

hey man ,im a total newb, going to grow my first plant , lowryder #2 need to know what kind of lights to use from start to finish
best light would be a high pressure sodium light if you are low on budget n can only afford one. metal halde is best for veg growth as it lets off more in the blue spetrum. metal halide lets off more for red which is good for flowering... depends on wut you can afford...

Welcome to RIU carrot, the answer to this question is not an easy one. I suggest that you hit the threads, read some stickies on here and decide what type of lighting you want to use. Ther are so many questions that would need to be answered before you can decide which light source to use. I myself use CFL lighting because of strealth, cost and the amount I am trying to grow.

Here is a link you should read. I would start their and then search some journals to see the actual results of each type of light.

Hope it helped.

New to growing and my babies are getting ready to germinate.

I'm broke and need lighting. Going to do cfl's for my first crop and wondering can I use cfl's from Lowe's/HomeDepot? Or do I need true 'grow' cfl's from a grow shop. Also, thinking about making my own cfl setup any tips of doing that? This part is really confusing me, should I be more concerned with watts or lumens? If lumens is 2,500 lumen per sq ft ok?

I have read and re-read and now I'm more confused than ever.
Hey BL, YOu are correct. They are the ones you can use. I get mine from both stores depending on who is cheaper at the time. I use the 23w/100w 2700k/6500k equivalent for side lighting and I use home depots 65w/2700k for their overhead lighting when I am in flower. They are only 15 bucks and they are the cheapest in town for that size. Youi can also get the 42w from Wally World 2 for 8 buck's. Home Cheapo and Lowes sell em for 8 buck's each.

Just remember you want more blue/6500k in veg stage and more 2700k in flower. I try to run arounf a 70/30 for each stage.

Up to you which ones you want to buy.

Hope it helped

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I'm so excited I can hardly stand myself. A friend who has been growing for 30 plus years and constantly improving his strain gave me a few seeds to get started-what a guy. I certainly don't want to make any mistakes with these little babies. Thanks again. BL

ayy , i have 2 females under 250wats .theyre about 3 weeks into flowering . i accidentaly left the lights on for 40 extra mins today. can this turn the herm??

when should i start introducing nutes?
should i take that netting off the jiffy pellets when transplanting?
water when they sprout?
and finally can i water or mist sprouted seeds or the pellets with stuff to help the root? or too young?

people are right.. you need way more light.. Id suggest an HID.. not to be a jerk, but you are wasting your time with the light you have.. how much is it btw?

you introduce nutes when they are needed. just keep the soil moist.. dont over do it man.. its a plant.. seems like you are overthinking it.. but what is your set-up?
