DIY Carbon Filter

Now i know this isn't as good as using chicken wire but...... check it out.......

I start with a regular Vitamin Water bottle.

I then get a filter pad and good quality activated carbon.

I cut the filter pad to the width of the part of the bottle it will surround.
P5160026.jpg
Next i cut away as much of the bottle that will get covered as i can.

I then emptied a pepper grinder, and filled it with activated carbon. I grinded it into the filter pad (outside, so it doesn't make a mess. trust me)

I cut the top off bottle and put a knee high tight over the closed end and put some wire on it so it doesn't move.

I then put tape on wire so it doesn't cut tights. :)

Next, wrap the pad around bottle, and cover ends with tape.

Flip the other ed f the stocking/tight/knee high over the filter. Can you guess what we do next?

Thats right, fill as much activated carbon into there as you can!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tie off the closed end... Wala!!!

looks nice man; might be a tad small but I guess that depends on how big your grow is. Good cheap DIY however!

I used the intake filter for an Abrams tank on my 12"' fan. Couldn't have worked out more perfect. Of course I'd understand if you don't have one of those lying around though.

Dude, the V-Pac's?! I'm a former tanker and I'm confused... How the??? I might have to call bullshit on that one.

I took the filter off for now. My lights are creating to much heat and my little 2.5" computer fan can't push the air fast enough. Waiting for bigger fan i ordered on ebay. (NF-P14, its 64.92 cfm, 140mm(5.5"), 19.6 dB, 1,29 mm H2O) Not the strongest, but it will move just enough air for me with my filter. hehe...haha:hump:

Nice filter. good detail on thread. I have been taking apart my Can filter and repacking them every year with a similar method of heater filter and activated carbon.
