water to hard

so im growing my first crop, they're just on their second set of leaves and they're having a magnesium deficiency.

I bough epson salt and some lime and mixed it in with the water (lime because the PH was to low).

I'm growing them in MG soil with their pre-mixed nutes.

I realized the water here is super hard locking out magnesium, i bought a gallon of drinking water today and added the epson salt to it and the salt made it the water harder locking out more magnesium

I don't know what to do. how do i soften the water and not kill the plants?

u can just get rain water from outside and keep it, use it to water everytime.

Can't you use water softener? I mean, you use it to soften hard water in your home, so it would make sense you could use it in your water system and then use it for your plants.

Or am I missing something?

I know a lot of folks also use distilled water, I think. I don't have any troubles with hard water where I'm at, so I don't really know what to tell you - just speculating right now.

also you could buy a reverse osmosis machine, which i've heard alot about in hydroponics for this type of problem, i guess it depends on budget! also for temporary you can do what above said and buy distilled water from any grocery store

Use a brita water filter as a cheaper alternative to a reverse osmosis device.
