Odor control; activated carbon filter, baking soda

Was just wondering, if lacking the space and materials for an activated carbon filter, like in a small computer case grow, could you just leave an open box of baking soda right next to your plants and the fan and hopefully it will remove any strong odors? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but it seems to work for removing odors from the fridge.

I'm not sure if the baking soda will work, for my small cab I made a mini carbon filter with a 4inch computer fan and beer cups it works well

I do the same thing for my small cab, but with netpots.

To OP: I think it would work best if put on the exhaust.
