exactly ... i've already considered getting a 600 watt since i'll be exhausting so much air .. but do you think that's way too much light for a space that's only a 2x4x5 tent??? also...
forgot to multi-quote
but a cooltube is attractive to me for space reasons since i'm not dealing with alot of height. But i figure with all that air being sucked from the bulb .. height shouldn't be an issue... besides my plants growing out of control. am i correct here??
For the money that fan sounds great, more is better. That's 8 sq. ft. so a 400W is 50W/sq.ft. From what I know that's good. You should be able to use more height IMO. My Cool Tube let's me grow close to it.

The only actual drawback to using the 8" fan will be noise, it will be kinda loud without a muffler. As long as you're good with that, go for it.
there's another question i've been asking myself. Everyone claims them to be loud. But what qualifies as loud. I have an air conditioner running almost 24/7, window fans, a TV that is loud and runs constantly. My downstairs neighbor claim I'm the quietest neighbor he's had. So will it be more or less like a bathroom fan noise ...or are we talking full on rumbling metal..

Dammit if only we still had a FAQ. I saw it there quite a while ago when I first planned it. I saw the same link today but can't find it again yet. My construction journal on A Medicinal Refridgerator
shows mine. If it doesn't show enough pics just ask there and I'll help all I can. Some guys following on there have some cabs with them and are all over DIY projects.

I wouldn't worry about your downstairs neighbor hearing the fan. You'll have to listen to it though. It's hard to say how loud it is going to be for sure but probably not any worse than all that other stuff you mentioned.

I run my 400w in a 8 Sq Ft space as well and the difference from the CFL was huge, like dude was saying. You will definitely not need 2 of them though, I don't care what you grow...That's just way excessive.

Jump in there and do Hydro, you wont regret it!
in due time my friend ... i'm still learning about cannabis growing in general .. even my local hydro guy told me to start with soil... as soon as the cash becomes available i will surely be trying some sort of hydro technique
once i figure out my situation as far as my next grow .... i may step up to hempy buckets then hydro
