i have a 250 watt mh ballast and bulb but do not know what else i need to complete it

you have a ballast replacement kit so you have the guts,just need a base to screw the light into and the cord to the light & to the outlet. a box to mount it in would also be nice.
the pictures are not clear,on the far left is a white tube & it looks like it has 3 wires coming out of it.is it part of the kit? you may have a HPS ballst kit. MH uses a ballast,-the heavy block on the right in picture 2. and a capacitor- the little white tube w/ 2 wires (in the center of pict 2). an HPS uses a ballast,capacitor(not same size as MH) and an ignitor. the ballast should say ansi S50 for HPs or M58 for MH.

while at the above link,check out the ultra sun HPS bulbs, they are designed for horticulture use but are half the cost of other plant bulbs. just bought a 400 watt & it seems good but only in use for a few weeks so its to early to tell

in the second picture to the left the smaller white tube is the "lamp ignitor," it has three wires coming out of it, the second tube is a 1 M ohm, 1 watt resistor and the block is a metal halide ground ballast core rated at 250 watts and is labeled M 138/M153 with 120/208/240/277 V input. so basically all i need is an enclosed fixture. thanks for the input.
