For the meter, if you can afford it, you NEED a ppm also. I've been doing dro for a while and seen a buddy do it for over a decade, it pays to be in control of that.

for example;

I used to use the CES 3 part (with additives), mixed per the directions and was happy with ppm's added a little down for the ph.

I switched to the GH 3 part (with additives) recently, after using this for a while I figured out to mix 2/3 of the directions for the ideal ppm's and still a little down for the ph.

I pretty much always down the ph after adding nutes or doing a res change, just a little.

What kind of system are you gonna run hotsause?

underwatering if the soil felt dry she should perk up after a watering. small cups means watering every day. also yes u are gonna want a ph meter for hydro, or a ppm meter
She is doing alot better today Sorry for the noobish panic after reading the past 3 days it seems your leafs only droop from Under or Over watering and mine was thursty even though i fed her the day. Thanks mcpurp i was thinking it was the size of my cup and her size. I have 200 to spend on a PH meter and Ventilation. For my Meter i am going to Way to Grow in FOCO. I looked at some of there ventilation and they had alot of CAM fans which is the most expensive. I am still waiting for my 600w therefor Ventilation can hold off But i know my Inline fan is important for my 600

For my system i will be using a 10 Gallon Tote with 2 14" Airstones and a Dura airpump.

You can get 6" inline fans for 30 bucks at home depot. I would prolly cool your 600 enough depending on were it is pulling air from.

i got my ph meter for 40 bucks and it works great it a milwakke 600 not the best but not the most spendy either. and i used to use a 4 inch inline and it did more than enough to col my 600 at the time, but i sold it so now i cool it with 3 small house fans and it works great

IN THAT CASE SINCE IM DOING A BASEMENT GROW B4 I WASTE ANY MONEY ON A 8 INCH INLINE IS ANY INLINE GONNA BE NECCASSARY. Could i just use 2-3 Fans putting one small fan right by my opening for my Reflector then 2 more circulating air around my room? I dont have a set space for my room but i am thinking of 3x3

Dude, the 6" inline fan from homedepot is only like $27. Then put one circulating fan in there, blowing under the light to disrupt some of the radiant heat rays coming from your light. By the time you buy 3 circ fans you could do this set up and be happier. Just pull air from the tent through your light, as you mentioned in your previous post, with the 6" inline fan pushing it out of the tent.

I dont know about the ph meter, but you would have enough money left to buy a decent one that will tell you your ppm's too. If you go hydro you need to know this measurement...

if u got the money i would still get an inline, i was just stating what i do instead. and if it is gonna be summer where u are u might need it also if it gets to hot in theri.

Well thats the thing i live in Colorado where the weather is unpredictable. I love it and ive heard alot of outdoor growers love it (Sometimes) It stayed pretty cool but ITS DRY AS HELL. But i think we have sunshine on a average of 300 days a year. I was looking at the Hanna combo meter but its 194 and i dont want to pay that just for a PH and EC meter. Anybody know any links to cheaper meters that are trustable. I found a few
Hanna WaterProof pH Tester

122.00

Checker pH Tester

43.50

Primo TDS Tester

35.95

and from Steal Hydro
Sunleaves Expert Plus pH meter
109.99
Hanna Champ pH Tester
69.99

So im just waiting for some input and hopefully i can put in my order for my PH/PPM meter tomorrow and my ventilation if i get lucky and find it on the same site

This is the one I am currently using, I paid a little more from a hydro store, I dont know about the website advertising.

I would HIGHLY recommend getting the "combo" tester. I it really nice and accurate. It will tell you your ph/ppm and temperature of the water. Temp is yet another thing to keep an eye on and adjust if you have the means. Most strains like their water on the colder side - 68 or so. Usually my temps are higher, when they get extreme you increase the chances of root rot - upper 70's and 80's. Sometimes I will put frozen water bottles in it to bring the temp down, my buddy has got chillers hooked up to his resiviors - couple hundred bucks a piece.

Went and got my PH meter today it is an Eco Tester i also got some PH calibrator. My system is ready to go i just need to put water in it and test how low the water needs to be. I rinsed my Hydroton everything is pretty much ready to go. I have a question my water PH is 7.3 and i have no PH down at the moment can i put my GH nutes in with my tote water wont they bring it down all im waiting for is this answer and we can get this show on the road

ive never used gh 3 part but i use gh floranova and it brings my water from a 8 down to a 5-5.5 depending on how much was added. but i am pretty sure most nutes do drop it. i would take a glass of water test the ph and then add a lil nutes to the cup and re measure to see if it lowers

You can look it up online and find home supplies to bring it down more if needed. I think it is baking soda for a downer - Just need to mix very very well, might cause some clogging too. I would wait until you can buy some ph down if you can.

FYI - I am using the gh 3 part too.

Yea thats what i was thinking. Ill just have to wait i dont think 2 of them are even ready for nutes. All is good though tomorrow after work im gonna get a humidifier and some PH ^and v solution How long should i veg my plants under this T5? And i was thinking of starting some LST or Topping but i dont know if any of these strains like being topped? Any suggestions and or Guides to LST.

For the veg time, you can veg them as long as you want. Know that they can triple in size during flower - so you really need to do some math and figure out how big you want them or can have them and try to plan accordingly. I would get a smaller bottle of up than down - I go through the down and hardly ever touch the up. Unless you need cutting for clones I would suggest lst - MJ is very resilient so it would recover from topping - but I prefer to shock them less in an attempt to avoid any stunting it may cause. I did a bunch of research on both hst and lst - I will try and find some guides and shoot them your way through out the day.

Here is an example of extreme LST - I have seen this drawing a lot on RIU. I know some people have down it - I would love to see pics of an actual plant.

Post #3 on this is a great example of LST - SCROG - Screen of Green
Post #4 - I dont know what to say about this one - imo they are way to young to be tying - maybe it is to achieve a diff result than mine.
Post #10 is how mine will turn out. My thread; https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/325134-first-pics-my-purple-kush.html
Prolly more on this one too, didnt go past page 1.
