Hi I'am STELTHY I am in the process of building a mad grow cupboard and I have a LUMATEK 600W with a super lumen switch, I have a 100w self thermostated PRIMA-KLIMA in-line fan, then a 6" cooltube connected to some ducting and then blowing out into a RHINO carbon filter(medium sized) and for an intake, I have a 120mm CPU fan connected to a transformer plug to control fan speed :) thats connected to a drainpipe that goes through my bedroom ceiling and into my loft I have a ODOR SOCK attached in the loft to stop dust grit etc from flying down the pipe and straight into the growroom, my problem is Summer is almost here, and the 600 runs FUCKIN' HOT anyway! with my set-up the way I have it ..the minimum heat is still around 40oC (14oC TOO HOT!!!) I need as many ways possible to cool the light so when the cupboard doors are shut the grow room temp wont exceed 26oc well as long as it stays between 25oC and 27oC

PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME !!! I'll add a pic or two to help you understand my problem and as a thankyou I'll send out mad rep to THE MOST HELPFUL SOLUTIONS cheer's - STELTHY:leaf:

The CPU on the far left helps draw the air into the grow-cupboard from the drainpipe attached up in the loft above. PS the 3 shelf mounted CPU fans are all connected to help circulation - STELTHY

Don't worry about the light excaping this is soon to be addressed and fixed :) - STELTHY

This is an early pic before I had finished installing the drainpipe air intake...but this is just to give you an idea :) - STELTHY

You need some kind of air cooled hood bro...whether it be a cool tube or just an air cooled hood...

Perma mount the light to the top, put a glass "shelf" under the light to hold heat high up and then vent the new light compartment. You would also have to make an adjustable stand for your plants. Just a quick thought

A/c and more cfm's that's a clean setup. The cords kinda kill the stealth but it is fkin nice and clean. Hope someone has some better tips for ya but a portable or window ac and upgrading the fan is about the only thing I can see helping much. Keep ur ducting runs as short and straight as possible. I use smooth straight pipe where possible to reduce resistance. Unless u got a max fan the cfm rating isn't a "true one" I believe max fan and one other company are the only ones who rate their cfm under load meaning ventilation and etc are hookep up then rated where as the others rate their fans with an open flow wich isn't really helpfull being as depending on ducting type, length, etc can reduce that 10-60%.

that drain pipe is way way too small for intake you want something like 4 x 6" holes for a passive intake or 6" ducting going to your loft with maybe a 6" booster fan to help the flow

I have a huge 6" cooltube in there already its in the pic! its not too hot to touch but is pretty warm, too warm! - STELTHY

The cords are only there whilst i do my tests after and when I am 100% ready to start growing the power cables will be hidden under the floorboards n carpet :) and the top of the cupboard will have a custom stealth box made to cover the whole top section and the whole unit will be color coded not to look out of place :) given my space I have my ducting as short as poss. and with only 1 un avoidable bend right on the left of the cooltube. I will look into air conditioning and how to install that if you have any advise on installing AC that would be cool, many thanks - STELTHY

You reccomend a real house sized length of drainpipe?? and a booster fan too ?? ok thanks for the advice I'll look into that :) - STELTHY

where are you exhausting your hot air? youd have to exhaust it outside, or to a different room thats sealed off. OR, you can just go buy a window AC unit to help cool down the room. you could probably find a used one off craigslist for less than $100. a 600 watt light shouldnt need too much to help cool it down. maybe a 5000BTU AC

I am exhausting my hot air into our bedroom, and speading it around the house with an oscillating fan, thats ok though cos the grow cupboard draws its air in from the loft above so intake is seperate from outtake AC is prooving too expensive at the moment and uk parts are all kinda pricey - STELTHY

I run a similar setup with a 600w, the only way i am able to keep the temps down is to exhaust the tent itself (through your carbon filter and inline fan) and run a separate duct for your light. Bring fresh air through that with another fan, and run the hot air output away from the box.

Simplest, cheapest, most effective route here is to get a window ac. I see them on craigslist for $50 or new for $100. If you dont have a window in that room get a portable stand AC (200-400 new).

Any new fans or solutions you come up withe will probably cost more than $50 as it is...

The only other thing I can suggest for very short term (or very tedious) soultion is make an icebox/heat exchanger for your intake.

Imagine something like this: http://www.bestgrowlights.com/store/403863/product/SSI904490

Nice looking setup there.
Before going out and sorting out A/C , I would first sort out a supply for your 6" extract - It looks to me like it's being held back by an inadequate supply fan .
Can you cut 6 " hole to right of fan and attatch duct to out-side of cupboard so light cooling is seperate (this would make a massive diff to temps i reckon).
Otherwise even passive inlet vents low down would really make a difference .
Hope you get it sorted soon !
