Please give me a crash course on CO2 usage

If I were to go with CO2 what are my restrictions.? Can I use it in a cab grow? When is CO2 used in the growing process, only during flowering, or veg/clone as well. The reason I ask is if were able to do a CO2 unit in a cab grow I would have no way to keep the CO2 from infiltrating my veg compartment. And also I was planning on adding a 3rd (very separate) drying compartment too. Will CO2 have negative affects on other stages of growing/drying

What about ventilation I was planning the build of the cab to have almost a negative pressure as to make sure all air is always moving.

Can this be done?

ok well co2 you use it through out your whole grow, it is expensive you have to have it at a constant ppm. its realy ment for big grow ops where temps go over 85. how many plants you gonna try and run? what kinda lights you gonna use? it sounds like you dont need co2.

Common sense tells you that you can't have the ventilation running while running CO2 as it will be a waste. If work great for veg and flower during day hours only. You can use it in any size space as long as you can control heat. hope it helps

i just have a bottle of water with yeast and sugar in it. its not much but it fills my grow box with co2, i guess the smaller the grow area the more worth the co2, as you have to use less.

Well I was planning a cheap homemade system like Rhyspect suggested. I was thinking since 'yes' you are somewhat defeating the purpose of having co2 when you are ventilating out. I will need to ventilate since the cab will have 4 separate compartments (all link in the ventilation process) One of the compartments would have my co2 device. The flower and veg areas will be generating enough heat where I will need to move air. When the lights are on from the timer the the fans would be on that same timer. When the lights go out so does my forced air ventilation. The compartment with co2 was going to have one or two 120mm pc fans running when my exhaust fan is off. They would be forcing the co2 from the device to the grow areas. During the "dark/sleep cycle" all co2 from that compartment will be pushed into the flowering stage. Is this do-able?

The way I figure is the homemade co2 dispenser will be cheap enough where I can waste when I can't control it but help in super charging my grow when I can . I would assume any co2 is better then none.

Only question is does the light/sleep cycle play any part in when the plants should get there dose of co2?

Sealed up room, temps over 80f. and an automatic co2 controller which regulates 1500 ppm at all times, regulator/flowmeter and 20lb tank.

Once your wallets empty, it will only require a refill($20) maybe once a month if your using a controller.

Also, need a good oscillating fan to get that co2 off the ground..since its heavier than air.

Its best not to vent.. thats when a dehumidifier comes into action.

Dont need it at night.

Oh yea, make sure your running a high wattage hps, or mh light setup.. Or else its just a waste of time and money.

Co2 is the best thing i could have ever done to my growspace.

Makes the buds rock hard, and plentiful.

Got over 39 zips with 9 plants, 5 bubblers, and 4 soils... Not too shabby(1 1000 watt hps hortilux eye w/ light mover)

Make sure you discontinue Co2 use 2 weeks before you harvest, they say it will reduce potency if continued.

Good luck to ya. :)

Great advice, thank you!

A few questions: 1) I have no intention of using a controller/regulator/flowmeter but rather a homemade yeast/sugar set that will release the CO2 from a separate compartment directly via fan into where the flowering is. I feel any CO2 is better then none. Do you think this will do?

2) Since it will be a cab I will have no choice but to ventilate. I was thinking having the exhaust fans running on the same timer as the grow lights. This way I only need to have forced air when the heat from the lamps get going. When they are off I was think of having one or two 120mm case fans to force the CO2 into the grow area of the cab. Wasn't sure what you meant buy "Dont need it at night" Do you me CO2 has no benefit on the grow during sleep/night cycle?

If you put your exhaust fans on the same timer as the lights make sure your temp does not get out of control during the "night" phase. You can attach the Co2 hose to the back of a fan and direct the flow of air toward the tops of your plants so some Co2 falls on your plants but you should put the fan on it's lowest setting. Another way is to puncture holes in your Co2 hose and run the hose around your plant like lights on a christmass tree. If you puncture holes however, be sure to cap the very end of your Co2 hose so there is more pressure leaking out of the punctured holes.
