Tamjam ditched the HPS ! cfl micro grow

welcome to my new micro grow, my first grow was done with cfl's the second with HPS and the third is being done with cfl's growing plants that yield me an ounce each is believe it or not to much weed!! i just need a few small plants going that will yield me a minimum of 14grams a month, i want to keep the operation small as possible.

i will be working with seeds of various strains and cuttings, at some point i will choose a mother plant to keep me going.

lighting set-ups will more than likely change throughout the grow but will always be done with cfl's

first picture is of the flower chamber and the veg/mum/cuttings chamber

i am using a 120mm pc fan for exhaust and a 80mm fan for intake currently i have in the flower cab 4 23w 2700k cfl's and 1 45w 6400k cfl, the temps are at a steady 77.8, i am still working on getting around 200w in there without temp problems. this will always be on a 12/12 cycle

the veg cab has 1 45w 6400k cfl which should do the job fine, i have yet to fit a fan to this, this will be on either a 24/0 or 18/6 light cycle.

i have two cuttings from my previous grow, one from the mutant and one from the more indica looking lady, these have been in 12/12 for around 10 days, as of yesterday both have started to flower and have pistels forming

all plants will be kept in 5 inch pots throughout this grow

i will be using bio bizz nutes, bio bloom and bio grow, and eventually pick up some canna pk13/14

i also have a feminized train wreck and big bang seeds from GHS which have just sprouted

and 2 more cuttings from the mutant, these were taken when i chopped her down so might not root very well but we will see

any way lets see if i can keep me and my wife supplied with weed for the future and have lots of dank smelling little ladys to chop down

cheers MJ, im pretty chuffed with it, and looking forward to the challenge of keeping us supplied, i have around 2 ounces from the snowwhites so got plenty to last me until a harvest

i have two clones from the snowwhites from nirvana in flowering, a feminised train wreck and bigbang both from greenhouse seeds, and two more snow white cuttings waiting to root

Well thought out cab, you put a lot of thought and planning into that. Should do well out of that. The clones are looking great, loads of growth since I last saw them. Good luck with it

i need to get around 14g's a month and i 'll be happy which i think is pretty doable using all the fantastic skills i have learnt over the last couple grows.

and yeah im sure we will keep this mutants genes on the go

what do you think the chances of them cuttings rooting? they were taken when i chopped down the mutant.

hey guys well today we waked n baked so im baked and thought i would update even though not much has happened

first up is the two flowering plants, both growing away nice and showing a lot more pistels

and a pic of what bulbs im using

both seeds have sprouted, the train wreck has the seed case still there and has stretched pretty bad, she will be fine.

and both cuttings have a lot of resistance when i give them a tug so im assuming they have started to root

how long you think it will take the cuttings to re-veg? i am thinking of taking some cuttings from mine, but she is about 3 weeks from harvest so they have those little gold nuggets sitting on top like your does.

as soon as they root they will go back in to 12/12 as i want them small as possible, im guessing they root better in veg mode but im sure they will still root even though they were taken from a plant late in flower.

im sure MS will explain this to us when he stops by kiss-ass

go for it gumball, the thought of cloning used to scare me lol but once you have done it its easy, i plan on doing a lot of work with clones now.

get some clonex and i dont think you can go wrong

I'm liking the new cab Tamjam, I'm assuming you are planning to move out of the loft entirely when the HPS grow is finished?

I am halfway through flowering my first grow and have 2 clones and 3 seedlings in a 65w veg cab (which is the roughest, most ghetto and least stealth cab EVAR!) and am tempted to build a small 2 stage cab like yours so I could set up a small flowering chamber.

Like yourself I have realised early in my growing career that I don't want an industrial scale grow, just enough to keep myself in weed.

I was going to go for 2x65w 6400k for veg box and 2x85w for flowering box, side by side like your setup.

Don't get over-anxious about stretching seedlings, I thought mine looked like a disaster at first, but have since decided they are fine. They were quite stretched (by my standards) as they developed so I topped them and they look alright now.

You can always bury some of that stem later, don't worry about it, it'll stop

Re clones, well you can take cuttings at any stage and they will root, but I'd agree that a couple of weeks into flowering (or earlier) is the best time as the stems are still soft and the plants are still in that transitional stage before full flowering and they seem to root faster. Clones do need a bit of veg time after rooting ideally, but again you can chuck them straight into 12/12! Be good to see what you do with them.

Hows the lady in the loft? You going to let her go on for max yield?
