Ok,so I bought a 4x4 grow tent and it has 3 vent ports in it.2 in the back upper corner and back wall and 1 in the front corner, how do I hook the fan and filter up.The sleeves are to big for either side of the fan,it says it uses 4 inch duct, thats the size fan i got.Does the fan go outside the tent????like run duct out of the tent ,then into the fan outside the tent???I am stumped, the inside ducts have like strings hanging off the end, like shoestrings, what are these for, please help:-(

Hey, im not to sure but cant you tie the fan to those shoestrings? Cause i know it best to hang fans from strings, it reduces vibration and noise. If the space is available, have the fans on the inside of the grow box, especially if it can help dampen the sound.

You can use normal duct tape/string/cable tie to make the sleeves fit over the fan, just pull it nice in tight over the fan.

- it sounds like the strings are the ones you use to tighten the vent ports/duct holes against the duct so light can't leak into/out of the tent.

- you can install the fan(s) inside or outside of the tent. i originally had my exhaust fan screwed into a board that i hung from the celing of my tent. since noise wasn't an issue for me, i wanted more space in the tent so i moved the exhaust outside of the tent.

- my setup for exhaust/filter looks like this: ()reflector()==duct====[exhaust fan pulling air from inside the tent]==duct==[carbon filter]
(air cooled reflector so it's just pulling the hot air from the reflector and the air from in the tent out through the carbon filter)
so i have my exhaust fan and carbon filter outside of my tent (along with my intake fan further away), leaves me more space for plant growth and i dont have to hang anything besides the reflector. the fans are kinda loud, but i don't mind.
