im thinking about taking the hydro route. myfirst grow i set upa cfl box but found aperfect deal on a 400watt hps so i bought that.

but im looking to usehydro but have somequestions.

1) what will i need ?
2) how does hydrophonics actually work
3)how does the plant grow diffrently when using hydrophonics ( I.E time it takes to finish ect )
4) what do i do diffrently ( I.E adding nutes ect )

thanks in advance :)!:leaf:

depends on what sort of system you want to go for flood and drain, reservoir system. i suggest reading around and looking at others grow systems to find out what you think will work for you. the main reason i use hydroponics as opposed to soil is less chance of mites/disease and also alot quicker finnish time. check out youtube and watch a few vids its amazing what you can learn.

hydro does cost more and its more complicated, but growth is FAST and yields are bigger than indoor soil grows

I love soil it s so much easier , cleaner tasting, forgiving and cheeper (but slower growing). If i need bud super fast i use autos.

Im all about cheep so I go with the dirt, Its your first grow i would at least try one in soil so you can make the choice if Hydro was worth the money.

i actually consider myself hydro-illiterate. i can help because ive done some reading but its always been too complicated for me to try

i agree with scar; you should get your toes wet and try a soil grow, so you get a feel for the plants, before you jump into a reservoir full of nutrient water haha

i thought it was :/ how much typically will i be looking to spend for 3-5 plants?
its not all that expansive if you buy the products yourself and build your own system.
i have built 10 plants systems for friends for aus$800 and thats with a 600w hps light fans the works.
all depends how good you are with your hands.

ie: im building a nft system at the moment where most people buy premade nft channels @ $35 a metre.
im making my own from cutting down old drain pipes i found at my work
i needed atleast 5mtr so i guess its abit of a saving.

but yes soil is abit cheaper, i just hated it cause i kept getting bugs in the soil.

like scar and kaleo said, get at least some REAL experience before you dive into hydro, but let's say your gonna build a 3-5 plant "DWC" system, which is my choice of hydro, your looking at maybe $100-$300, sometimes even more if you want top-of-the-line, high quality products and essential accesories! It's really costly, but it's well worth it in the end, you get to watch your babies grow vigorously! I really get a kick outta that!
