Odor control suggestions...Looking for some thoughts.

Funny thing despite my mistakes these babies are growing like weeds. Many thanks to the community for amazingly candid and informative information. The oldtimers on this site are to be congratulated for there efforts (you guys know who you are ). :clap: :hug:

So I guess I really did'nt think I'd get this far...

Here is the set up:

3x2x3 Cabinet
Vented with two 50cfm square bathroom exhust fans.
Areogarden Extra ( I know , I know) Mulitiple CFL's
It's just about time to flower and starting to get a amazingly powerful smell.
Problem is I love it:weed:, wife does'nt.
So relunctly I begin odor control. I've got some carbon filter for air purifiers and have cut it to fit the intake side of the fans. I can cut three layers thick with the filter. I've cut one and helps some but I'm worried about air flow.
I had a heat issue that i don't want to create again.
So HERE IS THE QUESTION:


How good does the ONA gell work and how long? Is there a better way that is reasonably cost frendly..Can you place the gel in the cabinet without harm to the plants?

I'm using ona jell pro and it seems to cover the smell of one short rider. No detectable smells in my cabinet. this is my first grow so i am not sure if the strain is just smell less or ona gel is doing its job. I keep a quart jar in my cab just in case.

Dont wanna burst anyone's bubble, and I apologize If iam.. But, here it goes.

Its always best to grow a low odor strain from the start.

When your plants are about 4 weeks from harvest, the smell will be overwhelming.

May not think so now, but you'll see.

No low dollar odor control is going to get rid of the smell.

Even high dollar units dont do so well either.

I have an ozone generator, and a fairly large canfan, and Ona and I can smell it.. Sometimes in my front yard.

Thats why Iam growing less plants in dwc bubblers and have my room sealed up because of co2.

Since I sealed up my room, the smell is barely noticeable, so Im getting somewhere...finally:)

I also got a hold of Northern Lights #5 beans(lowest odor Mj plant available)

Should be smooth sailing from here on out.

Wow thanks for the info. I look forward to the challenge, looks like a 5 gallon bucket, and small fan, is going to be the method of circulating thru air thur the gel ,looks promising at least... Best wishes upon you as well :).

it depends on your strain and how many plants you're growing.

My plant is 2 weeks old, and has started smelling; im afraid for the future :P. But nice little grow closet thing bro.

Hey bongblasts,
I got that jar of ONA Pro gel today and WOW this stuff is GREAT :!:
I put 2 tablespoons in a small glass in the cabinet under the fan and another the the room an POOF NO ODOR :lol:.Dont know how long this will work but a HUGH difference... So relax and give it a try..

I'm having a blast with this closet thing thanks, I'm planning to convert the bottom into a Veg chamber :D.

home made ghetto carbon filter...














just made this a few days ago.. the carbon cost under $20 for 2 lbs with s&h.... it works very well.. I also punctured holes in the sides of the coffee container for airflow
