It's my first time...questions about growth

I was wondering if you all might be able to help me out! I have two plants vegging right now, planted at the same time, using same medium and nutrients, same light, same strain etc. One is decidedly bushier, about a half an inch shorter and the branches and nodes are closer together. The other is a bit taller, things are definitely more spaced out and it doesn't have anywhere near as much secondary growth.

I was just wondering if these growth characteristics might offer any "hints" as to the eventual sex of the plants, since I've heard males are taller and lankier etc.? Or maybe I'm just a normal first-time grower who reads into everything? Haha.

The plants are both about 25 days old. I think they look good and healthy, but I'm open to any and all feedback since this is my first time.

depends on the strain, I had one where the male was the short bushy one and the female was lanky so not always true, best is to flower them to see the sex for sure, no real true way to guess

plants look good though

Nah, not really, the bigger plant is likely just a stronger phenotype that the other. There's no real way to tell the sex until they preflower, contrary to all the myths.

Is preflowering a prerequisite for moving to 12/12 flowering light cycle? I'm going to give these guys more time to veg, but I was planning on transitioning to 12/12 once they are about 14 inches high. Reason being: if they double/triple in height, I don't want them to be "too much plant" for one woman. I'm limited in terms of space, but I also know that my light doesn't have enough power to do much good if I'm growing trees, hahaha.

No you can flip em to flower when ever you want, if you do so before they are are mature it simply takes a bit more time

Best to plan for your garden space, so good lookin out

Great news! It's nice to hear that my planning and reading is working out so far. A shout-out to all you experienced folks who take the time to help us newbies out. I really feel like that's sort of the spirit of the whole thing, right? Either way, it's appreciated :) !

One more thing that you might find useful......you can sex them while they are on 18/6, after they've been vegging for4-5 weeks. They're a little small right now, so it'll take a little longer, but shouldn't take longer than 6 weeks to show preflowers at the upper nodes. If you plan to veg them to 14", you should be able to identify the males and remove them before you go to 12/12, which is always nice to have that extra space.

Just wanted to update you guys: readjusted my timer for 12/12 after the lankiest one showed its preflowers. It's a girl! You were right riddleme, the weird-ass, lanky one is a real lady :) The other one seems harder to read. I think I see little hairs, and the pods are pear shaped not round and ballsy, but nothing definite. I was a bit worried because I decided to LST them, and I knew I was starting that a bit late, but they seem to like it.

My setup isn't ideal - I don't have a grow cabinet yet, so I've been moving them into a closet every night for a solidly dark period, but for my first grow I just wanted to have fun, learn a lot and figure out what type of setup I'd like to have as I move on to my second, third, fiftieth grow. Mission accomplished as far as that goes. I'm definitely hooked - I've been looking around for some seed banks and strains, and everytime I've (had) to buy any green (until my harvest comes in) I've been praying for mystery bagseeds (nothing yet).

Just wanted to let you all know and say thanks again to the solid RUI community. I don't understand the "+ rep" thing quite yet, but y'all get some of it as far as I'm concerned (and if someone tells me how I can hand it out foreal, haha).
