Go read how to rig a lightbulb socket (cost 39p from wilkinsons here in the uk, so like 50cent item) to a household plug, either chain all 3 sockets or just use 3 plugs and hang your energy savers in there if you really must do this, but as stated please remember that a lava lamp bulb is designed to put out heat, rather than light to melt the wax and cause the effect. It WILL cause a fire in that kind of environment, I can assure you. Remember that this is something that is expected to run for 12 hours largely unnattended.
You could safely hang 3 CFLs (just tie-wrap them to something if you want to be truly ghetto) in a decent sized box, you couldn't say the same for a lava lamp bulb.
Oh, and for what it is worth, I am with the other bloke who said it's frustrating when someone asks for advice, gets told what they are doing is a risk and then says "I'm doing it anyway", just consider that that will make it less likely that people will offer good advice and more likely that the crowd who like to hit stupid kids with sticks in the park will turn up.
Be safe.
