No not the ppm or the EC. The pH is what i mentioned. I just did a test and my tap water has a pH of 7.8 and i also did a test on 500ml of tap water with 1ml of rhizotonic added to it and its pH is 9.7 so it must send it up. I am talking sense arent i?
Its never raised it to those levels with me.... I check my pH every day, that seems a little high... Do you have pH down???

No pH down but i guess will need some. I read that rhizo sends it up on quite a few other posts, not just this website. Is it possible that the other feeding nutes lower it therefore counteracting the raise caused by the rhizotonic? I am going to do another test. This is so fun.

Ok i added 2ml, which is full strength, of my veg nutes to that same 500ml of tap water that already had the rhizo in it and it has now come back down to pH of 6.8. Much better.

I still reckon, and Eight will agree with me on this that the easiest way to check your pH levels is with an aquarium test kit... pH pens are notoriously inaccurate, but the solution never lies....:-)

I have a PPM pen but I still use my fish tank test pH kit.. Sometimes the simplest option is the best...

I am sure you are right. I am off to get my hair cut and then might go to a pet store and see if they have them. I think i was just drawn in to the pen as i like gadgets.

My white Rhino seed has cracked, I'm so excited... The other two have also cracked... I had to perform a tiny bit of surgery, in that I had to turn it the right way up, the shell was in the hole and the root was exposed, so I fixed that, and now its super happy....

Will post a pic in my journal when there's more to see....

Yeah I agree with using a broad spectrum aquarium ph solution has much less chance of being out by more than 0.5 than a pen. It's critical to be in the right ph range, but not to have a specific ph.

I don't recommend the narrow spectrum aquarium kits which only provide accuracy over a range of say 6-8ph. My broad spectrum solution which wouldn't have cost more than $5-$10 has a range from 4-8 which is perfectly accurate for pot as it leaves 1.5 point of detail outside of our ~5.5-6.5 range.

Yay you got your seeds Lacey! I love the seed cracking stage...I kinda assume if they germ then they'll survive, but the time between starting them and them popping...I get very mother-heny. How's your back?

Billy, postie bring a pressie for you?

i use the kits too, and last time i saw jats she mentioned she too uses the kits over pens, and that chicka knows her shit lol- tho i get mine from bunnings it's just a manual ph test kit. about 16 bucks i think

dont like pens, i think ninj uses and likes his pen but it was a super expensive one lol

I like the idea of how easy the pen is day to day, however miscalibration is too much risk to avoid the minor effort of using solution.

Germing and chopping.. The two most exciting times in growing. Of and when those pistils pop of course.

yeah if the pen worked perfectly of course i'd go with it, much easier. but it's too hit n miss

i just had a look at my outdoor girl, poor thing is a bit purp from the cold but the pistils are browning up nicely and trichs are on their way to amber. not too long now, wont get heaps off her but enough

yeah i just paid for my cyco range this morning, aussieponics are pretty quick too but i'm not too far from them so that probably helps.

Some is always better than none, Kmoo...and she'll be yummy.

Billy, how old were the seeds that failed to germ? I'm kinda scared of freezing seeds with a normal freezer because the temperature drop would surely be too sharp for the seeds to reliably germ afterwards. I might have to experiment with freezing vegetable seeds and see how they handle it before letting any MJ loose amongst the exiled peas and the solitary chip and the aggressive walls of ice that come ever closer together.

Yippee 888EEE!

they would have to be 10yrs plus old
you could try putting them fridge first a day move to meat tray for 2 days then into the frezer my only thoughts on a slower freze
