Hi, I'm gonna be using an hps for flowering in a few weeks and i got a whole lot of soft white cfl's that i don't want to go to waste, so i was thinking maybe i could go dual spectrum (soft white and cool white) in my vegetative room, but a little more heavy on the cool white spectrum, has anyone ever done this? would you recommend it?

Sure, I do CFL for veg and HPS for flowering, it works great. I've got a combo of blue and red CFLs .. they are big though. Not much different than what you are describing.

What kelvin ratings do your cfls have? I'm no good with the white, soft white terms.
I've personally mixed 6500K and 5000K but this is my first MJ grow.

Thanks man! sounds great, My cfl's are pretty big too man, i got 2 85watt e-39 mogul socket, and 4 42watts, which costed me about 70 bucks all together! i could've bought some other strains with that money! which is why i don't wanna let these bulbs collect dust in the corner!

i've got 6500k and 2700k, i know that 2700k is better for flowering, but i was thinking that if you could go dual spectrum for flower, then you shold be able to do the same for veg!
