Flowering to sex questions

Hi, I have a 1000W hps light but it isnt hooked up right now. I have my plants vegging under flouro right now... but there not feminized seeds so i want to get rid of the males, so i just put them into 36 hours of dark, my hps isnt hooked up at the moment but i have a flowering mini 40 w fixture handy. NOW I know 40w isnt alot at all and I have about 20 plants i want to sex if I jsut put some cool whites in there with the 40w flowering spectrum bulb could it still be good enough to just sex them before i hook up my hps then when i knwo whats female i can throw them under the hps?

Yeah you should be fine. Should only take about a week. Get some 2700k instead of the soft white though. Also 36 hours of darkness is never good for a plant!

yeah im not looking into flowering them with the cool white just want to sex dont wanna buy new bulbs just to see whats female you know? how much dark should i use to shock do you think?

dude just put them under the hps now 12/12 and when you find males then pull em out. are you transplanting?

My hps isnt hooked up at the moment. and need to transfer them to a new location so i dont want to be bringing tons of plants would rather just bring the females. also no im not transplanting.

You should just throw them straight into 12/12 with a more light than your giving them now. The plants shouldn't stretch that much. People shock there plants like that because some say it stops the plant from stretching that much..
