Other than slavery being abolished, and racism not being accepted in general society, (which is a very good thing imho) not much has changed here in the south since those times. The people are still every bit as rebellious at heart, as they were way back then, and still pretty much live the way they want too, regardless of what the established governments "laws" might be. The south is still a separate entity from the US, in many peoples minds here, and always will be.

While I can't say that I agree totally with everyone here, and their points of view (especially anything racist), I can identify with their wanting to rise up against, and fight a government entity which feels the need to fabricate, and force their own ideas of how life should be lived, onto the people. Because, in their eyes, If you are not willing to become a mindless unthinking drone like the rest of the sheep, which make up the mass of people in this place we call "America", and play along with this "American Dream" they have so conveniently set up for you, you are more use to them locked up in a cell.

For the people who live here in the south, the Confederate Flag has nothing to do with hate or racism, it has everything to do with freedom, and rebellion against an unjust government, and will always fly free and proud here in the south. We are still here, we still love this great land, and even up until the last breath we take, they will never take our freedom from us. :peace:
Fair enough just at long as we can have a Nat Turner Month. He was a great rebel as well and truly wanted freedom against an unjust government...

The civil war was all about slavery, how can the confederate flag NOT represent hate or racism? How come all white supremist's use the confederate flag as their's if it doesnt represent racism?
I agree we should talk about our history, even the bad we have done, but to CELEBRATE something that was all about racism and hate is wrong! Especially in the south, where you have a history of racism and hate.

This guy must hate....himself?
Edgerton blames the media and the educational system for creating the perception that exists today regarding southern history. "This is a continuation about the lies of the Christian southern white folks during the Civil War. African Americans in this country don't know a thing about that war and that time. They see that flag and someone says slavery and it all falls apart and they think of Southern Christian white folks as being evil."

"We can't let the stars and stripes get away that easy. Never were the stars and bars flag flown over a slave ship. And you want to know why? Because it's a Christian Battle Flag that was emulated after St. Andrew, Jesus Christ's first disciple. In 69 A.D. in Petro, Greece -- now a part of Russia -- St. Andrew was jailed because of his teaching and preaching of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Master, and he was told he was going to be crucified on the cross. He begged that persecutor not to nail him to that Latin cross in the shape of "T" because he was not worthy of being punished the way Jesus Christ had been nailed. So he begged to be tied in an X-shape to the cross and the persecutor did what he asked him to. That X is a Greek symbol to CH, the first two letters in Christ's name. When St. Andrew was on the cross he continued his teaching of Christ and all the folks started believing him and for three days he remained on that cross teaching and after three days they begged the persecutor to take him down and when he
did, St. Andrew came down off that cross and died, and he became a martyr and a saint.

"When (Civil War Confederate ) General Beaureguard decided they needed another flag, he chose the cross of St. Andrew for these reasons. Most Southerners, in fact, did not want to do away with the stars and stripes because they didn't feel they had done anything wrong. They thought it was the north who was eradicating the Constitution.

I just wanted to say that I was glad to hear about this. The war was not about slavery, it was a states rights issue.

Try to change history if you can , but in the Civil War slavery was a big issue...Even the Governor of Virginia now states that slavery should not have been omitted and he made a mistake by not acknowledging it ... and again I say lets celebrate Nat Turner.

Well read the whole thing, not sure about why it all happened, school says slaves, university says economics, everyone learned a lot. Growing up I always felt it was just a way of saying I'm different look at me just like long hair and now tats. Any object can be hijacked and used for no good. The swasteka was a religous simble befor Hitler stole it. I guess if you live in a state where there is still some people using this flag to repress blacks maybe we need to stop them kick their asses and take the flag back. I am a rebel, I'm different, I love my country and my flags even when they are flying haft mast.

Best advice I ever got

Shut up
get a life
get over it

Peace

So if you had the chance to drive Daisy Duke in the General Lee would you say No!
