So im starting out my second grow and decided to log it all here in a grow journal. Im very green to the whole deal so if nothing else this could at least be entertaining. Im very much into having people post their opinions on my grow. especially on how I can improve. I will try to be very thorough with pics and info on what im doing and when. Also im all good with pics of your own grow thrown in too. Bud porn is all good in here.
well first of all ill let you know the setup and put the pics all together at the bottom.
It all started with the shed out back. Its inside demensions are 8'L x 8'W x 8'H. This came with the house, which really worked out. So i insulated the whole inside and put up white plastic.

Inside the shed:
2 lumatek 1000w ballasts dimmable and with super lumen feature
2 hydrogro reflector 8" duct
2 lumatek 1000w hps bulbs
lights cooled by 8" vortex fan pulling through charcoal scrubber in the room and pushing through both 1000s and out of the room
for intake I have 1 4" fan and three passive air holes with indoor home grates on them. All of which are filtered.
2 osscilating fans
flood and drain table hydroponics stup with 70 gal res and 3' x 6.5' flood table using rockwool
scrog setup includes all pvc framing with plastic 2" hole fencing for the screen and a second level for supporting huge colas [I hope:-P]
dehumidifier 70 pint soleus
portable ac coming soon
ro filter on the way also
using gh flora 3 part nutes with diamond nectar and liquid karma with big up powder during flower
My firsttime around is currently starting week three of flower so ill put pics of that finishing in here also. Well here goes nothing!

So last night I took clones of my current grow hindu kush x skunk #1. It was my first time cloning anything so Who knows what will come of it. But heres the method I used.
I started by mixing mild a nute solution using store bought ro water ph level 5.8 and including gh 3 part, humbolt roots, superthrive, diamond nectar, and liquid karma. I had a ppm of 220 when finished.[gh 3 part was 210 ppm]
[pics 1&2]
I then soaked rockwool for the cloning humidity dome in this solution for 2hrs. At this point I checked the ph of solution. It had risen to 6.2 so I added more solution until it was back down to 5.9.
[pic#3]
after two more hrs of soaking I drained all excess nute solution from tray so I just have the wet rockwool. I then went into the shed to take my clones. I took 31 total clones only from the bottom of the canopy under my screen. At least 10 of these were more of an experiment than anything else. I was trying even the smallest of branches. Well see what happens. My method was cutting the clone as long as possible with sharp scissors and then using a razor blade to cut base of stem at 45 degree angle with 3 slices up the opposite side. Hopefully this gives the girls a good # of root areas.
[pic #4]
I then took the 31 clones [more like 20 good ones] and put the humidity dome over them. For my setup here Ive got a rubbermaid tub with 2 32w cfls 6500k
and a heat mat with thermostat to keep the medium at 79 degrees.Ive got this little clone /veg box in my office closet with small amounts of nutes and the ro water.
[pics 5,6,7&8]
After the clones take root I will put them into 3" grodan rockwool cubes to start veg in the box [with two more 32w bulbs ] without dome or tray. I only have about 1' of vertical space so well see how it works out. Ive been doing reading on flowering clones and the general feeling is that they take a longer time to get going than reg. clones. I dont know how the timing is gonna work out with my other plants finishing and running out of room in the veg box. Trial and error baby! PEACE.

whats up quickrip? hmm.... i loves 1000watters! I'm liking your style. i think you should get rid of the white snow fence, next round. it will really block light. sheep fence works well.
flowering clones don't work because the plant is all fucked up trying to produce buds to survive. it doesn't have the ability to produce roots as well as a plant in veg. state. i'm not saying it wont, but you are really doing some counterproductive type stuff taking flowering clones. its usually reserved as an emergency, or ditch to save a strain. i mean those cuts will revert and root, it just takes a long time. longer and thus much slower. too slow when you are banging those 1000's.

Its funny you say that cause I took that fence off yesterday And Im finishing w/out it I feel like they need to stretch out and get more light to the center of the plant. Im looking at getting some seeds soon and keeping a couple moms, which will solve the prob with the flowering clones.[if these dont work I will go get some clones ] This will be good fun and practice for the real thing later. Well see what happens.:-P:-P:-P Thanks for checkin out my journal Chronizzle and for offering up some help. I do appreciate that man.
This is no longer a scrog grow! The screen is now gone.

So as I was saying earlier my screen is gone and I removed leaves that were causing bud sights to be covered from light. Heres a few shots of the uncovered plants. And still no roots or any sign of anything with the clones.
I like how I have the support twine ready to hold up the buds that are a foot below.;-) Wishfull thinking I guess.;-)

Well the clones are just sitting at a stand still. On the other hand Ive got some beans on the way from attitude. So if they dont root Then Ill just have to germ my 20 wonder woman seeds. I also bought 3 fem. strawberry blue and they gave me 5 free fem seeds. Lemon skunk, pineapple chunk, rock/lock, flower power [auto flower], and vanilla skunk. I thought that was awsome! Im very interested in the pineapple chunk its a cheese cross and should be a good yielder.
When this round is done im gonna build a box along the entire right wall and put my table and res on a rolling wood frame so I can get it outa my way and get inside the new box[gonna be tight]. The box will be about 3.5' tall 1.5' wide and 7.5' long. Im gonna split it into 3-2.5' sections. One for starting a mom area with a 150w mh[to put the new strains in], one for a veg area with a 400w mh conversion bulb, and one for drying in. Im looking forward to having a purpetual grow goin. Should be awsome if it all works out like it does in my head :-P.
Heres some picks of the 11 plants that are on day 30 of flower. Im thinkin about thinning them out a little more to let in more light, but I dont want to shock them too much. :leaf:

I know my days dont match up I fucked up my math on the earlier post. This is the start of week five flowering day 29.
So my ROfilter came yesterday and I installed it last night. Its a portable filter so its nice and compact which I need. This model does 100gal/day. I had to modify it a bit since its made to attach to a sink, and having the shed with no sink that wasnt gonna work. So i had to make it attach to my hose out back and it works perfect. I know its not as convienent as a lot of you here have it but it will work for me. Ihooked it up to the hose last night and added a fill stop valve on the res. Today when the lights came on I had 55 gal of 40 ppm water.[beats the hell out of 300ish that I had] Hopefully this helps me out on my next grow.
So I havent said too much about this current grow #1 due to the fact it has been one thing after another since I got the clones. But to make a long story short Ive burnt them early on. I got stem rot a bit later from oversaturating the rockwool. I then learned that trying to grow w/out proper ppm meter is not advisable and could lead to 1800 ppm in veg[in my case]. No wonder its not growing right! So these girls have been through hell and back and still dont look very big for their age [six weeks veg:roll::roll::roll:] Maybe using better water will help, it cant hurt. Well see in a couple of days. I also added cal mag to the nute list its a must in a lot of peoples feeding schedule. They do seem to be producing some alright buds. Not super fantastic but lets see how good I can make them
Last night I started my filter filling my res and let it fill overnight. It was at 40 ppm and 7.4 ph. I mixed up my nutes tonight with gh 3 part, cal mag, diamond nectar, and liquid karma. [A total ppm of 1170] I could prob bring it up some but I dont know how the water changing to RO and the addition of cal mag will affect things. Im gonna stay a little low for a bit and feel it out. ;-)
Heres some pics of the new filter, the fill stop valve, the hose hookup, and of course some buds forming.

Well being the curious guy that I am I started mesing with the clones tonight. I wanted to see what was going on in the rockwool. Sorry I didnt take pics. Anyway the little bastards are rooting! I ripped one of the cubes in half and the tiny rootmass was forming and spreading through the rockwool. I moved all the hindu kush x skunk clones to one side of the humidity dome. I did this because
My seeds arrived
and I wanted to germ my 20 wonder woman for round two. I was gonna grow out the clones but I really want to run this strain so Ill save the best clone for a mom.
So a lot of folks say to germ with the paper towel method, but I think with the humidity dome and the heating pad in rockwool [which will hold moisture very well] these seeds will do just fine. I took each seed and dropped it in the hole and squeezed it closed. I just hope that I get one real good pheno out of the 20 to use for a mom. hopefully all germ and all are females. prob. not.

i think at times you may be a bit short with yourself friend. i see goods thing happening. if that rockwool is giving you problems, try rooter plugs. they will root up in ten days(visible). you just drop them in the rockwool, and they go on their merry way. nugs are looking good, nows the time to watch the humidity.

Right on chronizzle +rep for consistantly throwin good advice my direction! Thanks for poppin in again:bigjoint:
I am a bit hard on myself sometimes, I guess I have high expectations [no pun intended]. I dont think Im gonna get rid of the rockwool just yet Im starting to learn how to work with it and I think Im really liking it. As you said on your last post here flowering clones arent the way to go, but Its good practice for me [I need it] My humidity is holding between 35% and 42% with the dehumidifier on. Oh and thanks for the compliment on the buds. I dont think the weight will be too impressive, but I didnt kill 'em, and the bud I do get should be killer. For the first time on this setup and growing at all for years Im happy with the wayits going. I cant tell you how much Ive learned in the last 3 months. I love this shit!

sorry, no journals. just random threads. nothing even good. i'm all over the place as well. i'm on all the forums. I'm really quite busy, with work and i have a large family. I'm all over the net with other forums and what not. every once in awhile a thread catches my eye, and i will follow. i like your style, and will be watching.

i do have a few current projects. i'm flowering another run of a strain i came up with termed "sir duzzit". its so friggin toppable. it sends up like 4 or 5 donkey dick cola's. smells like sage and fuel. just at week 4 of 9. foto 1

the second foto is 4 hijack hoes that are getting prepped to go out on some private property. they will have an extended vacation. last year i had plants finish over 10 feet. these are gonna be nearing 3 feet when they go out in 2 weeks.

so I have to say how pleased I am with Attitude seed bank. They werent the cheapest but how often is the cheapest route the best route? They did show up in 6 days all the way in cali, had very stealthy packaging, and seem to have a good germ rate. If they are good genetics Ill really be lovin it over here.

wonder woman super sproutlings

Ive been doing a shitload of reading lately on this forum and a few others and have been totally intrigued by dwc and growing trees with vertical 1000s.
This guy is my inspiration. Roseman put this up on a thread somewhere on rui. I will try this at some point down the road.

But for now Im trying a little experiment with things I had sittin around the house and I put together a 3 gal rubbermaid bubbleponic system for the back yard. Heres what I used.
1- 3 gal tote
1-tiny water pump for aquariums[dont know what size]
some misc. 1/4 and 1/2 inch adapters that came with the pump and very small sections of 1/4 and 1/2 inch hose
1- small single outlet cheap air pump
1- 3 inch bubble disc
1- 3 inch net cup
1- bag earthstone growstones
1- hindu skunk clone from my closet box
---and good old mr sunshine---
Only purchased 1/4 inch air hose, bubble disc, 3in cup, and growstones
IMG_1660.jpg
IMG_1662.jpg

I know that there wont be any way for me to keep down temps in the tote later in the year but this is just for me to get a feel for how this wonderful plant reacts in a bubblponic setup. Ive never tried it out and am super curious. And if anyone is wants to know im actually using a 1/4 in hose from the pump in the res to feed the net cup so it is an actual bubbleponic setup. correct me if im wrong about that.
And finally tonight Id like to show you my leaf bud. Its so fuckin weird man Ive never seen this shit before. The bud is actually growing out of the center of the leaf!

the rest of the pics are shots of the hindu skunk day 35 of 12/12. I got some close up shots using a magnifying glass and the macro setting. Enjoy
