germinate or put strait in soil?

I have always put my seeds strait in the soil after soaking them in water for 12 hrs and had no problems. I have only used bag seed up untill this grow. I have 10 fem white dwarf seeds that I want to start outdoor this week. Do yal think I should chance my normal method, or do the paper towel thing?
 
Either way should work fine, the white dwarf seeds are gonna probably have a higher germ rate than bag seed so if it worked with them, chances are it will work will
the white dwarf.
 
im not telling you what to do; but the paper towel has never worked for me... i just stick em straight in the soil... with a 98% success rate

to be quite honest there is no harm in putting your seeds directly into soil.

in fact i never even heard of putting seeds in damp paper towels until it came to marijuana.

i did no formal germination w/ my seeds and they came out just fine.

i even got a seed that was a year old (that i found in some bud) to sprout without germinating.

i think both methods work well i just never germ because i dont want to risk damaging the taproot once it pops from the seed.

so i plant mine straight in.

and no worries because of the taproot pops out of the top when its in the dirt the seed will rearrange itself in the soil so its facing downward (as it should be).

either way is fine. it all comes down to preference.

Smokey hits it right on the head. Staight into the soil. Once that little white tap root pops out of the seed case, It SHOULD already be in the SOIL. There are microscopic hairs on the root that WILL be damaged in transferring from paper towel to growing medium.

Whats been working great for me is :

Drop you seed in a little shooter filled with water , Then put a larger cup over it to keep it in the dark.
Once the seeds sinks put in the soil to too deep and under you light ... Whitin 3 or 4 my seeds sprouted
 
just like everything else related to growing pot, people have to over-complicate things....

if you really wanna make it a task, you can actually (and very carefully), crack or cut open the shell, and plant the inside (the actual seed) successfully.... I dont recommend it, but if you must make it complicated, go all the way:eyesmoke:
 
I always germinate, once I put a few seeds in a shooter with water then after a day they sunk and wanted to experiment further so I left them there at the bottom for another day. Then I put them in a wet paper towel for about 30-40 hours and the taproot was very thick and strong and about an inch and a half maybe longer.
 
When I first started, i tried the paper towel method and had success with it but then I read a thread on here (cant find a link sorry) talking in detail about marijuana seeds and how germinating was unnecessary so I tried planting directly in the soil. My success rate has been the same with both methods, but planting directly in soil actually shaved a day off the process on average.
 
The only thing wrong with not germinating is if your seed is bad or doesn't sprout. If you stick the seed directly in the soil there's a chance that it wont sprout - it will just sit there and grow mold. If you germinate the seeds, you can be sure that every seed that you plant will grow. other than that there's really no difference

Yea, but whats a lil soil in a 6" container worth?

If its strong and healthy, it'll pop its head out..

I wouldn't want a weak ass plant to begin with.

Only the strong survive ;-)

i hear ya but if you're going to be growing more than one plant its better to make sure they all will sprout... by the time you realize that one of the seeds are bad, the other ones will already be sprouted and probably a couple inches tall. So if you want all your plants to be around the same age and height, its safer to germinate... otherwise it doesn't really matter:bigjoint:

"bad" seeds are fucking rare in my experience... If it is a mature seed, (which one call tell by looking), and is intact, (which one can tell by giving a good squeeze), it will sprout 98% of the time... to each their own... I've got friends that swear by the nail in the trunk method.... if it works for you:blsmoke:

your right it is rare but it happens... it happened to me once
 
click on the link in my signature to see my grow journal. you can see one of my plants is allot smaller than the other ones. That's because it didnt sprout, i had to replant it so now it's about half the size of my other plants
