400w hps nearly a metre away!!!

hi all i know this has probably been mentioned before but.. im on my first ever grow and growing greenomatics by greenhouse seed...they are on day 5 of flowering approx day 20 from seed anyway they were starting to suffer heat stress (taco leaves)temp on the floor of the tent was 85F nearly 90F on the canopy so i raised the light up to the top and stuck another circulation fan in the tent blowing on the the light ive also got an 4 inch extraction fan on 24/7 which runs at 187 M3/H not sure how to work the cfm out...my tent isnt very tall 110cm W 65cm D and 160cm H the tent is diamond mylar lined and so the light is now 60 cms away from the top of the canopy but the temp is spot on at 74.9F.....all i wanna know is if that distance is ok?? as the plants seem to be doing ok because there is new flowers and leaves growing all the time

74 is fine for your plant. Make sure the water that you feed the plant with isnt that hot though, no more than 72(f) otherwise nutrients do funny things. Really though, with one 400 watt lamp, I'd just throw the tent away. It's really kinda useless for just one light. It makes things overcomplicated (and expensive!) You can have a single 1000w lamp with no cooling on it growing perfectly nice bud. The advantages if you can throw out the tent is you have free airflow and real ambient room temperatures. but ive got 6 plants in my tent it cant be that pointless....plus ive got to be stealthy so the tent is ideal
