the coating of the 'ball' is white and it's mildly green in the inside, is this normal...??

Completely normal,

And i would reccomend an 18/6 light schedule under florescent lights.

With a little down time, the roots will grow alot better than 24 hours of light.

This subject is debateable..

But, thats what id do ;-)

Have a good one :)

i would do 20/4 or 18/6. seedlings will benefit from the dark time and the roots will grow better durring dark time

dont use any nutrients for a few weeks

a good way to tell is when the cotyledons fall off and the leafs begin to show slight discoloration. its also advised to start at a low dose and gradually build your way up to the full recommended dose
