Don't take me the wrong way on this I would love it if it was legal. I don't see how legalizing marijuana for tax purposes would work because everyone and there brother would be growing it. So there would be no need to go to the shops to buy it. I also think if where to be legalized there would still be a strict no growing policy except by licensed indivuduals and geuss who is gonna get them licenses people like R.J Reynolds and big time cooperate compaines. We also will be extremly lucky if the potency stays the same and these companies don't fill it with chemicals. Just a thought

Not everyone would grow it. A good 30% might. Most tokers are retards when it comes to where weed even comes from.

As for big companies growing it... why would they only grow it? For every product there is a little ma n pa store selling better shit.

I would be extremly easy to grow if you didnt have to hide it. If I could put plants in my garden they would be monsters.

What is easier? planting a few plants, veggin for a month, flower for 80 days, dryin for a week, and finally curing for a month OR walking to the corner store and getting a twenty pack of premium buds already perfectly prerolled? IMO millions who do not have the time, space, aptitude, or patience would rather take option number two. This isn't saying that they aren't dumb for choosing the easy way out but the taxes produced from the legalization could do wonders for the US, if spent wisely.

You guys think that weed would JUST be legalized for potheads who ALREADY grow?

Legalization would open a huge new market, of people who didn't smoke before, people who know not very much about Cannabis.

People wouldn't want to invest the time, and headeache of growing their own Cannabis. There is Trial and Error with herb, it takes some people like a YEAR to finally start getting the yields and potency they dreamed of...

So, Cannabis was just legalized, I need a joint every few days to take the load off.

Will I:

A: Go onto the internet, or barns and noble, spend hours upon hours learning the basics, then go out and buy $400 worth of equipment, then go buy seeds or a clone, then fuck the plant up, probably get a shitty yield with some O.K bud.

Or will I:

B: Go to the corner store, buy some pre-rolled joint's, and be high in 5 minutes. And only have spent $20

The only people that are going to be growing their own shit either already know HOW to, and have the equipment, or the people that plan on smoking a LOT for a LONG time to invest that much money into an operation

See thats why you can grow outside to.All you really need is soil and nutes to get good yields outside.and you can get that for less then 50 dollars.
I know people who put plants straight into the earths soil with no nutes and got a couple oz's lol.
I do gotta agree with you, people would rather go straight to the store and buy it.I know for sure me and none of my friends will do that though.

Yeah yeah true that, I honestly didn't think about that :P

But then you got the cities, like NYC for example, what like 11 million people in New York City...

The concrete jungles is where the money will be at...

But you still know youd have some Fortune 500 company funding a multi million dollar grow warehouse that always has 100% the right nutrients, temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, light, and watering schedule growing 30,000 fully mature plants every 2.5 months.

How much do you think it would end up costing them to produce PURE perfection, not much in the end.

I'd be interested to see how much it would cost if the entire nation legalized cannabis. They could probably sell an Ounce for like $20 and still make a LOT of money... Obviously it would cost more than that, but the point is that you really COULDN'T compete with price or quality of a large scale, multi million dollar grow operation...

I mean shit you could save SOME money by busting your balls to maintain some plants for a few months but in the end it might not be worth it... No cleaning up, no dirt to spill or water to leak, no hot lights running, no buds to trim, no time spent outside sweating your ass off, or fucking with any type of infestation that could ruin a crop you spent a lot of energy on

First off, how many people actually grow their own food, or tobacco? It takes time, effort, and if your in an adverse climate, money to grow cannabis. Not "everyone and their brother" will grow. It will make the overall product cheaper, but still an $$ herb no less. The best growers will need to separate themselves to make a superior product and, through R&D, find a cheaper, better yielding way to grow.

Plus, the local hydro store own sucks. He cant manage a business at all and doesn't give a shit about the customer. people need help, and I would fill that void!:fire:

Yea NYC and other places like it would rake in millions from it.
I think if it gets legalized nation wide they would make some dumbass tax you would have to pay for you to be able to grow it because of fire safety and public safety or some bullshit.I hope that wont be the case though.

I agree 100%

Sure some people will grow. But the vast majority will run out and grab a pack of J's and call it a day.

Just like I dont brew beer, distill liquor, grow tobacco, or produce food.

Amen! I run a business on this principle, serving clients who also do the same. It's called efficiency, some things require whole TEAMS of people, imagine that!

Honestly, I think if MJ were legal it wouldn't be worth most people's time to grow. Only a select few will have the skills to keep the dankest selection; yay RIU! the rest would pay half of today's prices for it and feel ripped off. The market will get flooded by shit and mids, but the very best quality buds will also suddenly become more accessible as well.

It's a step towards winning the hearts and minds, I think. The #1 reason why I'm told pot should be illegal is because it's illegal... lets stop this self-fulfilling philosophy at least. Let one full generation go through life as if it were no big deal so we can all get over it.

BTW, I just got my certificate renewed yesterday here in California, my doctor asked me to tell all you kids to go out and vote! NO EXCUSES YA'LL, THIS IS REAL!!!

Most tobacco smokers don't grow tobacco, so why would most weed smokers grow weed? It would just be easier if you could head down to 7-11 and buy a joint than going through all the trouble.

Actually that isn't a great arguement :P

Tobacco requires more specific conditions, and requires a lot more room.

Cannabis is relatively easy to grow and a small area can produce a lot.

Here's my thoughts on legalization:

It's not going to happen because of taxes. At least, that's not why we're asking for it. The taxation is a matter of "well, if it's legal, it has to be taxed to be sold, that's just that," and the regulation--even if they tell us we can't smoke here, we can't smoke then--will serve to keep it out of the hands of youngsters who, at this moment, can get it easier than beer or cigarettes. This tax-and-regulate method is a one-two punch to the American moralist who sees no redeemable value in pot: "here," we say, "you don't have to like it, but we promise that your kids will be less likely to get ahold of it, and the taxes paid on it will fix your roads, repair your schools, etc."

All that said, why would a pothead go to the Circle K to get his Marlboro-branded weed? Well, for one thing, it will be cheaper. The price of weed is created from the following criteria: the quality of product + amount + demand + risk. Risk is the key factor that artificially inflates our prices. When something can become worth ten times as much simply by crossing a border from one country to another, it hurts the buyers and profits the illegal dealers...but we are willing to pay it because we want the product. When you take away the penalty for trafficking weed--when you can ship it on semi-trucks with no fear of punishment--then the price of this simple garden weed will PLUMMET, and we will reap the benefits.

For comparison, picture a $3 pouch of Zig-Zag tobacco. It's cheaper than a pack of cigarettes, and you get more product. It's less convenient, and less manufactured, and so it sells for less. Now imagine if the government tomorrow declared that all tobacco is outlawed. That $3 pouch of tobacco would be sold on the black market for $30, the price some of us pay for an eighth. Hm...

There are, of course, countless other reasons to legalize it. Medicine and hemp are huge reasons. Constitutional rights to privacy is another great reason...think how beautiful it would be if those life-sucking leeches that comprise the drug testing industry finally got shit-canned and forced to get real jobs? The liberty we claim to have in this country should be true liberty, and with true liberty, you are on your own, accountable for yourself and what you do with your own body and mind. The end of this attempted thought control by the government would also be amazing.

Nevermind my theory that once everyone on earth is smoking pot, wars will cease to be :p
