TDS Runoff

Alright, I have had some leaves yellowing from the bottom up. I did an experiment and tried three different solutions. So far, flushing has won although the first one I did is slowly starting to yellow from the bottom up again. Anyways, I am flushing my other plants, and a person at the hydroshop said I needed to check the TDS runoff instead of ph. Well I did both.

My ph runoff was alkaline around 8.0 at first, do I just need to keep flushing until I get to around 7?

I also checked my ppm, guess what? It was way off, it went to 1900 and then gave the error for out of range.... Is this because the water traveled through the soil or is this an accurate reading? How do I fix this problem? Could it be off because a little of the soil was in the water?

Thanks guys, I am just really trying to figure out what is causing this yellowing right before I throw these ladies into flower.

I actually did a search before I opened my thread and read that. I can't check my EC because I don't have a good tester.....
Ok, I re-read the thread, and it sounds like if they were having a nute lockout, then my PH would be lower instead of higher. This makes sense, but why the f*** is my PPM like 1900 if its only like 400 when I mix it in with my water to feed????
I have ran a lot of water through my last plant, and have got the PPM down to about 1900 with the run off... My PH runoff is a little less than 8 after doing a pretty good flush with 6.8-6.9 water. First run through with water my PH was 8.... How far do I need to get this PPM runoff down?

Please help someone.

What kind of soil are you using? It almost sounds like you're using something that has time released nutes in it and every time you flush, more nutes are being released.

I am using fox farm's potting mix. No time released bs in that soil. I am on my 8th flush with a 1 quart container, man this takes forever for this stupid water to run through my filter... the ppm is down to 1600. I just flushed my other plants, but I think I am going to have to again, because there is no way they were flushed enough to get the ppm to where they need to be. I am not even sure what that is for a plant right before flowering, but I know its not 1500+

No wonder my lower leaves are turning yellow... I don't know why my plants aren't uptaking the nutes. One of them is getting purple stems, so I figured that was from a nitrogen def. I know sometimes this is normal, but I didn't think WW usually had them. I guess the only thing could be is that my soil has too high of a PH to allow the roots to uptake the nutes?

Waffle you said when you added some nutes to your flushing water and it brought down the ph of the soil... I could try that, but what about my ppm being like 1900???????? ahh..

The fing plant I did all last night I think is going to turn hermi.... maybe I will let it pollinate itself. Anyone have an answer?

Did you calibrate your TDS meter? If you're getting 400 PPM on the water and 1500 on the runoff after flushing that much something is wrong. How old is the plant? I see you mentioned right before flower and a 1 quart container. If your plant is in a 1 qt container, you should probably think about transplanting.

when i flush my plants i dont use a quart, i keep running water through it until the runoff is what im feeding it which is my tap water ppm of 200. it takes a long time to completely do one plant depending on the size of pot you have.

Yeah, its calibrated. The container I was using to flush my plants was a quart, they are in 5 gallon pots.

Ok, I thought about doing that, and I guess I can if I absolutely need to, but I didn't before because my water is alkaline, around 8 which wouldn't help my ph soil problem...I guess if I need to get the ppm down I can do it that way, and then run some proper ph water through it, but that will definitely give the plant some stress. it won't stress the plant out that much, it will feel alot better after the flush. What i like to do is to get like a 30gal tupperware place a stole inside it and sit the pot on top of the stole then i just keep running the water on it until the runoff is clear thats when you know your soil is rid of all the nute concentrates.
