i have a 4'x8' tent 7' tall.
my goal is to have the whole tent lit up but there will be plants at two different stages one half is flower weeks 1-4 and the next side 4-finish.
2 x 600 watt?
or
3 x 400 watt?
or
600 + 1000?
or
3 x 600s?

i am leaning towards 3 400s but im not sure about their penetration to the bottoms of my plants. ill be vegging for 30 days so not too big.

thanks guys.:bigjoint:

i'm betting 2 four hundo watters will do the trick. is heat much of a problem?

two 1000 watt lights will give you almost 10,000 lumens per square foot, which is excellent. or next best is a 1000 watt on a light mover as gastanker recommended.

how about two cool tube reflectors in line, one with a 600w hps and one with a 1000w hps. 600 obviously for early flower and 1000 for late flower. 600 will get them through the stretch fine in a 4x4 and 1000 will give you the ideal light intensity with deeper penetration for late flower

two 1000's seems like a bit of overkill + mass heat for tent material.

i believe i can control the heat with 2 1000 or 3 600 i however like the idea of slomoking. 600 and 1000 iin euro reflectors.

im looking into light movers but does anyone use these? can i get an inexpensive mover that works well?

I've done 2x1000w in a 4x8 and had no heat issues but again i'de recommend 1kW on a light mover or 2x600w on a light mover. I've got a buddy who does 1kW on a mover with amazing success considering the power he's using.

are light movers easy to install? i can find em for like $150 for 10 rpm, also is 6.5 ft enough for an 8 ft tent? it doesnt need to travel to the ends right?

They are really easy to install. a 6' track would be perfect. You could technically do a 4' which would go from the center of one 4x4 half to the center of the other 4x4 half but a 6' would prodive better coverage. you dont want to go to the very edges or your hoods will bump up against your tents walls.

awesome ty man i appreciate the info. im pretty certain i will go with a 1000 on 6 ft track and use my 400 for veg.

oh do you know if i can use that big kahuna hood with a mover? its like 2' x 3'. maybe pretty heavy.
