okay , so i have a 70 cfm intake going into my 24 square foot , 9 foot high room. my exhaust is a 4 inch carbon > duct > 170 cfm inline > duct > into attic . i also have a 400 watt hps ... it wont stay below 85 fricking degrees , and im pissed about it! no matter what i do i cant seem to get this damn temp below 80 , and im determined to make it my bitch ...

today after getting everything set up ... and realizing the temp was still raping me ... i have decided that the next step may be to buy an air cooled hood or a cool tube. what do i do? is this the solution to my problem? ive been having to sleep with my closet open ... and lights on ... so basically ive been living on the face of the fu*cking sun ... help me or contribute to my death.

Well if you only have a problem with the temp when the lights are on it no doubt the lights. Put that shit in a hood and vent it out and you should be good to go. Also that fan is pretty wimpy in size. I always buy the biggest one and then use a speed control to adjust as needed. In the summer you'll need more airflow vs. winter months.

If u r at 85 now and get an air cooled hood (one enclesed in glass) pushed by about a100 cfm it should work. One of thos 40$ cheesy in line fans would work.

how do i do this homeade co2? isnt co2 dangerous? is there a " best " option out of all of these? are there people that are managing a smaller space than mine without an air cooled hood? is 170 cfm really considered " wimpy" ?

I would say 170 cfm is pretty weak because most company's rate then with no pipe connected and they lose power over time. So when you add 20' of ducting and six months later that might only be pulling 80 cfm. Get a bigger fan and use a fan speed control. Then you'll always have a big and better fan if needed.

i use a 170cfm fan for a 2 chamber cab that is less than 10sqft and has a ceiling of about 6 feet.

either your intake temps are way too hot to begin with, or you are just simply not moving the air out fast enough.

i run a 6" cool tube with a 4" fan for intake and it runs out some ducting to my dual 12" exhaust fan. light is a 400W digi.

my temps are between 76.1 and 78.3 (it goes up when i open the door to the grow room so if i stay outta there it sits at 76 all day)

only problem i came across was getting night temps bellow 70. i just run my air conditioner on its lowest setting all night and it seems to work.

cool tubes work.

If your dumping into the attic you may be able to get rid of your carbon filter as its no doubt throttling the fan output. I use a 400cfm and dump into the attic with no carbon filter as it dissipates in the attic and there is no smell. without getting anything else just remove the filter and see if it allows more air to be evacuated from the room. Before getting a cool tube I would get a bigger inline fan.

then you can get a larger carbon filter if dumping alone isnt enough. your not getting the air out of the room fast enough. cooling the light is great but no room for bigger light if you get the hood and all that. Go for bigger fan first so you can upgrade lights later and not need to change ventilation
