Just kidding, but honesty id rather not set it on fire, so quick question.

Im currently running a 400w hps, i have my ballast outside my wardrobe sitting on a milk crate for space reasons, id much rather put the ballast on my hardwood floor with the milk crate over it so its more out of sight.

What are your guys opinions? Should i leave it how it is or do you think i would be fine making the switch?

did you really make a thread to see if you can put a ballast under a milk crate as opposed to ontop of it? and if hiding ur ballast under milk crate is your idea of hiding it out of site then god help you.

lol

but for real, mount your ballast as high as possible in a well ventilated area. Ballasts create heat, heat and dust are killers of electronics. You mount your ballast up might to avoid any water trouble.

If your going to be an ass about it then dont post, it was a simple fuckin question. All i want to know is am i more prone to fire with it sitting on my wood floor.

And by the i only hold my dick with my left hand when taking a piss...

Word, thanks for the info. Well in that case i think im just gonna set it on top of the wardrobe cause their is a good 1ft gap between the top of the ballast and the ceiling, i also have a ceiling fan in my room about 3 feet from it so i should get some good ventilation.

Amen to that. I got flooded 2 weeks ago, water got to around 2 feet deep in out apartment. Had my ballast on top of a dresser, if I hadnt it would have made a bad day that much worse.
Dang sorry to hear about that happening to your apartment, i mean thats cool you ballast didnt get fucked up but im sure alot of your other stuff got damaged. But cool thanks for the advice i just moved it up to the top of my wardrobe a good 6 1/2 feet off the ground hahah

The place I used to grow @ flooded all the time. The basement would turn into a 3 foot pool. i never lost a crop though and all my electronics were 4 feet above the top of the water. It's not just a good way to do things, it's an essential way to survive! I routinely check my equipment, and now that Im using water cooled lights, I check them all the time.:blsmoke:

Put a couple of 1x1 wood blocks under it so it has some air movement under it also. The wood will not burn from the heat of the ballast.

PS I have had a 1000 watt sitting on a milk crate for 7 years, no problem.

Peace

its never a problem until its a problem, if the ballast malfunctions its best if its on a non flammable surface
